For the last couple of months, the rumours have been piling up that Samsung will be launching new top-line Android model in the year 2014. The new line of smartphones will be known as Galaxy F-series(just like Galaxy S-series at present). The F-series phones will have all metallic body, ditching Samsung's 4 year old all plastic body language(that many people complaining about). According to some reports, the new Galaxy F series will be the top-line model featuring much high end specs, to go with the metallic body, than Galaxy S Series and Galaxy S series may be shifted to play second fiddle to them.

ASUS Announces The ZenFone Line In 4/5/6 Inch Variants, With Intel Guts / Funky Colors / Low Prices

US $99 / 149 / 199 Unsubsidized Price respectively

ASUS is breaking out its phone lineup at CES in a big way. The new "ZenFone" series is coming in 4-inch, 5-inch, and 6-inch versions to suit just about anybody, and each one of these new devices will be sold in a variety of metallic colors. Features and specs vary a bit between models, but the basic gist is that you pick your screen size and work up from there. All of them are aimed at price-conscious buyers.

The ZenFone 4 is at the bottom of the spectrum, featuring a 4-inch LCD 840x400 screen. (Remember those?) It's powered by a 1.2Ghz Intel Atom Z2520 processor and comes with 1GB of RAM and a 5MP rear camera. The ZenFone 4 will be offered in a choice of five colors: Charcoal Black, Pearl White, Cherry Red, Sky Blue, and Solar Yellow. Storage isn't mentioned, but you can extend it with a MicroSD card, and the battery is a rather puny 1170mAh.

nexusae0_ZenFone-4_Horizontal1.png

Moving up the line, the ZenFone 5 has a 5-inch IPS screen with a full 720p resolution, and it's also got PenTouch and GloveTouch features for enhanced use with a stylus or gloved hand. Inside is a faster Intel Atom Z2520 running at 2GHz with the same 1GB of RAM, plus an 8MP rear camera with an impressive F/2.0 lens and PixelMaster low-light shooting. The front shooter is upgraded to 2MP. The 5-inch version of the ZenFone comes in Charcoal Black, Pearl White, Cherry Red, and Champagne Gold. The battery is a more palatable 2050mAh and the same storage situation - not much, and an open SD card slot - applies.

nexusae0_ZenFone-5_FrontBack.png

The Papa Bear of this line is the ZenFone 6, with mostly identical specs to the 5 aside from a larger screen (same resolution), a bigger 3230mAh battery, and a 13MP rear camera with a proprietary "PixelMaster" feature for brighter night shots. It will be offered in the same four colors.

nexusae0_ZenFone-6_-Colors.png

All three ZenFone products use "ZenUI," a new interface overlay along the lines of TouchWiz or Sense, on top of Android 4.3. This includes the usual customized apps for the dialer, email, web browser, and gallery, et cetera, but there are a few notable additions. The Omlet Chat app is your basic free chat app that competes with Hangouts and WhatsApp, and the Smart Reader Mode will adjust the tone of the screen to (hopefully) reduce eye strain. ASUS is already promising to upgrade the ZenFones to Android 4.4 at some point.

Pricing and availability varies by region, but these are decidedly budget, so expect them to be competitive. In the US the unsubsidized ZenFone 4 will be a rock-bottom $99, the 5 will be $149, and the 6 will be $199. Combine that with wide-open GSM bands and a lack of LTE, and you can expect them to be popular with the no-contract crowd.

The only problem seems to be is that only one Sim slot(slot: 1) has the capability of 3G data(EVDO or GSM 3G), I wonder why every one is deploying this way, does it something to do with technology constraints?!

May be because 3G EVDO and 3Gsm costs too much battery juice, just a guess...

Micromax Canvas XL A119 launched, features a 6″ qHD display and priced at Rs 13990

Micromax has just announced a new addition to their Canvas family of smartphones with the Canvas XL A119 and that XL surely must be meaning extra large because the device is a huge 6-inch phablet.

post-83663-0-32076500-1389896282_thumb.p

The Micromax Canvas XL features a 6-inch IPS display with qHD (960×540) resolution which will make up for a ppi of 183 which is rather underwhelming. It comes with a 1.4 GHz Quad-Core processor which should be Mediatek made and 1 GB of RAM. There’s 4 GB of internal storage expandable up to 32 GB thanks to the microSD card slot.

On the camera side of things, the Canvas XL features a 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and a front facing 5 MP camera. It runs on Android 4.2 and is powered by a 2450 mAh battery. The connectivity is well covered as you would expect from any modern smartphone. The handset comes with dual-SIM functionality with dual standby like all of Micromax’s smartphones.

The Canvas XL will be exclusively available from HomeShop18 starting January 19th priced at Rs. 13,990 and the online retailer will also be offering worth Rs. 6,498 of freebies with the phablet.

For the last few days, there are so many press renders, live images are being leaked about Nokia's mysterious Android phone codemaned 'Normandy'. First it was thought a dead project, given the fact that the Microsoft take over deal is done & dusted(technically it takes much more time for the deal to be implemented). It is rumoured to be a low-end Android smartphone with specs at best that of Nokia Lumia 520 otherwise with specs same as some of Asha line of feature-cum-smartphones. Windows Phone OS & its UI is known as one of the buttery smooth OS & UI although crippled with lack of some features. On the other hand Android OS is known to be laggy OS with the requirement of high end specs to run smoothly(although it is slowly changing). It has to be seen how well Nokia is able to optimize Android & their skin on top of it to perform decently on this low-end or ultra low end specs(if you go by rumours). Today, couple of screenshots of its user interface have been leaked. Nokia interestingly gone with the UI similar to Windows Phone(which you can also get on any Android Smartphone by using few launchers). Below are the screenshots leaked by the most frequent leakster 'Eveleaks'.

Motorola Moto G Dual-SIM Is Launched In Australia

Back when Motorola Moto G was launched, Motorola just said that they will be releasing a dual-sim version of the same in the near future. Motorola hasn't given any details of when & where it will be released and what the price would be. But it is now been released in Australia, the price is yet to be known as no big stores of Australia yet have it. The specs & looks seems to be exactly as Moto G, the only change from Moto G would be the dual-sim slot inside the phone. The Australian would have GSM+GSM configuration as there is no CDMA network in Australia. It has to be seen when Motorola start rolling out Moto G dual-sim to other countries(if at all they have plans for it) & what wou be the price will be.

^^^^^

May be Sammy is now following apple's technique, where the latter degrades 5C with cr@ppy plastic and got huge boost in 5S sales... Similarly Sammy expects increased Note3 sales after this stunt? May be...

Note3 Neo is nothing but Note2 with fake leather back + a mm trimming here and there + IR Blaster + Rs11000 EXTRA... Some may argue that Note3 Neo is coming with HEXA-CORE processor, but its actually big.LITTLE arch [as in fake octo-core of S4]. Its actually either Quad_A7 [like in Moto G / Caanvas HD] or Dual A15 [like in Nexus10] ONE AT A TIME -- Simply a very less powerful QuadCore or powerful DualCore. Still NOT justifying the price difference, imho...

Curved LG handset launches in India @ Rs. 69999..

OH NO... I thought thats the price of a dozen of those curved banana shaped phone, as banana comes / sold in dozen(s) only... :multi:

Nokia announced its first Android-app running smartphones - the Nokia X and Nokia X+. The phones pack a 4" LCD display and come with Nokia and Microsoft app preloaded.

gsmarena_003.jpg

The Nokia X, X+ and XL are powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8225 chipset with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Happily, it's expandable via the microSD card slot and supports up to 32GB cards.

The Nokia X and X+ feature a 4" 800x480 IPS LCD capacitive touch display making up for a pixel density of 233ppi. However, the Nokia X+ and XL get a bump in RAM to 768MB.

At the back of the Nokia X and X+, there's a 3MP fixed focus camera with both phones weighing 129 grams and pack 1500mAh battery. It's good for 10.5 hours of 3G talk time and have a maximum standby time of 17 days. Both phones are also capable of maximum music playback of up to 26 hours, while video playback is rated at 8.4 hours before the battery needs a recharge.

gsmarena_001.jpg

The Nokia X features the signature Nokia Glance Screen. A swipe to the right reveals a list of installed apps, and another one gets you to fastlane. You can reorganize the tiles similarly to Windows Phone 8 UI. They are resizable as well and the larger the tiles get, the more information they display.

Unsurprisingly, the phone doesn't have the Google Play Services installed, so the Play Store isn't available on the Nokia X or Nokia X+. However, Stephen Elop highlighted that users can take advantage of the Nokia store for Android apps as well as the popular Yandex Store.

BUT IT SUPPORTS APK INSTALLATION FROM EXTERNAL SOURCES
