Arun 795 Report post Posted April 23, 2005 Yes, blocking Google Adsense will be a major obstacle for revenue generation for many 'free to public' websites (like RIMweb ). Even though the percentage of members using Mozilla Firefox is very low, it is a serious issue indeed as rEdshiFt has pointed out.

himanav 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2005 Is there any ad blockers for IE.... 30483[/snapback] Sure there are a lot. Just google. The one I use is AdShield. Neatly blocks out ads on pages. Also cuts out unneccesary popups. I have a licensed copy of the software. But you can download evaluation copy from their site also.

raccoon 53 Report post Posted May 1, 2005 Instead of just an ad blocker, consider an IE shell like Maxthon or Avant ...tabbed browsing, ad-blocking, better security, etc, etc, all built in. Plethora of functions ...esp. in Maxthon. Works on the IE engine too...
Utsav 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2005 Google offers harmless ttext ads relevant to the sites content. It doesn't increase download time for a site so I don't think there is any sense for blocking ads by google. At least we should honour the way our favourite site earns revenue which it needs badly to continue providing free services for us.
rEdshiFt 1 Report post Posted May 1, 2005 fair enough...but googleads are only part of the ad-blockable frames/images... it really has been a 'rediscovery of the net' with firefox...due credit goes to adblock
Arun 795 Report post Posted September 5, 2005 Bumping topic, just wanted to check how many of you are blocking the Google Adsense ads at RIMweb
RajanPERT 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2005 If it related to the RIMWEB finacial position, i will see it. Otherwise i like to block it. This time i didnot block it. But decrease my internet browsing performance. Thanks and Take Care!
TCP/IP 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2005 I don't. I searched for the link to download adblock for Mozilla but I could not find it. I usually don't click through banners. Google ads being text based are quite harmless. The ads that annoy me the most are.."shoot one of the 3 birds to win $100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000"... anujit 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2005 I wouldn't block Google ads because they dont bother me at all. I would like to block crappy Colgate ads on Yahoo/Rediff that turn my screen green, red and yellow. Or flashy annoying popups that say "you're infected scan now" sort of $HiT! Dilbert 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2005 Yeah Google ads seem to be harmless & moreover because of google's superior technology, these ads are relevant to the content. Same is the case with mails in Gmail...

rEdshiFt 1 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 just my two cents worth - most google ads are very tough to adblock, they keep coming again and again.... its typically like trying to block the text ads in rapidshare - near impossible anyways, we have something called RIP - remove it permanantly which helps where items are not ad-blockable
Puneet 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 (edited) Strangly, I do not see any ads from google on RIMweb neither on firefox nor on IE. I have not blocked any ads from google, and neither do I have any third party firewall installed. Or is it that my proxy is blocking ads from google? Edit: My proxy is blocking googlesyndication.com And that is why I do not see any ads from google anywhere. Edited September 7, 2005 by Puneet
