csmart 472 Report post Posted October 18, 2013 I dont think it will work with Gmail. even if you send at back date, in most clients, Outlook 2013 and others, it will show received date of today.
ami1 237 Report post Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) Do you want to show that a certain email was sent / received in YOUR OWN Gmail account on some old date OR you want the old date email to appear in SOMEONE ELSE's account ? It is possible to edit an email received or sent in your gmail account and change everything and save it; though it involves a pretty convoluted method and I had done it quite a few years back. It involved using some python extension to access Gmail folders for storing your files (when GDrive was not available). You could then mount your gmail folders as local network mounts and copy your files there which would appear in your gmail as blank emails with attached files with a preset Tag so that they would not clutter up your inbox. The same system was able to access gmail emails as plain text and edit/save them so that they appeared in your gmail with the changed content/date/from/to etc. However, if the mail is to be sent to someone else then their mail server will always show the received date, even if we were to change the 'sent date'. Unless you have their password - in which case you could edit your email received in their account. If you need it in your own account then I'll look through my stuff and try to remember and post tomorrow. Meantime you can search google for edit your gmail email or something. ::Hitesh:: 1,763 Report post Posted October 21, 2013 he he . . it worked with outlook! . .bingo will try tonite . . thanks Hitesh! Its outlook Express (not outlook from MS office pack) with Imap settings of Gmail. Also first save mail as draft and then shift to sent items it will show in sent item online, (first it will show old date but sync time of current g server) wait for 5min, then it will show as send on old date. now you can show our sent item to some one and proof that mail was sent, (you have not received it thats not my fault ) LOL
