Mobile data not working on SCH-R530 Galaxy S3 US Cellular after 4.3 official update

Mobile data i.e 1X or EvDO is not working on SCH-R530 Galaxy S3 US Cellular with Reliance after 4.3 official update, in the setting i observed that PRL version is showing as "0" as previously it used to show PRL version "5" and unable to downgrade due to KNOX enabled security issue .

What is the baseband version?

Mine is on 4.1.2 and it's not working due to md4 baseband.

Since I don't require data, I never downgraded.

Please update if any tweak found.

For base 4.1.2 ie MD4, enable usb debugging and open command prompt, give command 'adb reboot nvrestore' and phone will boot upto Samsung logo. Remove battery and press power+home+volume down to enter download mode. Use R530LG1 tar in Odin 'PDA' tab and your phone will be on 4.0.4 with working data.

My base-band version is MJA new one for 4.3 Version and unable to downgrade to MD1 as KNOX security is default enabled in 4.3 version which prevents to to downgrade to MD1 version it only allows you to MD4 version and as i know which is also not working data works till MD1 version.

No there is presently no solution for work around for mobile data but for the phone struck up issue there is solution which allows u to get back to stock 4.3 without any issue.

1. Download the stock modifed (i.e bootloader file removed) MD4 tar file 'http://anything-android.co/getdownload.php?file=D2USC%20Fix/D2USC-No-aboot-md4-fix.tar.zip'

2. Download the OTA MJA file from 'http://anything-android.co/getdownload.php?file=D2USC%20Fix/md4_to_mja_ota_update_2.zip', copy the downloaded file to your SD card

3. Install the first downloaded MD4 file via ODIN PDA section and after completion of the process and cache cleadning after phone booted up when phone is at "SAMSUNG" logo switch off the phone and boot the phone to recovery mode i.e "volume up + home + power buttons" and select install update from SD card option and navigate to the downloaded file in the step 2 and press OK and it will be install the OTA update package it will take some time for completion and after that phone reboots and now u will be on stock 4.3 MJA

If you are unable to download the try to download the file from "http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/SW/201306/20130625161408609/SCH-R530_MD4_Simple_Upgrade_Tool.exe" and install the tool and go to "C \Program Files\SamsungElectronics\SWUpgrade\Models\Binary" pull out the MD5 file of MD4 version and repack the tar file with android tool "CYGWIN" and remove the aboot.mbn file and repack the tar package and install it via ODIN PDA section

As MJA direct MD5 file is not available and i have tried to download from Samsung site 6 to 7 times but it it corrupted and same been updated to there TECH team but no use again they upload a Zip file that too have same issue dont know when they are going to fix the file for time being the above solution is only work around for the issue which i have done successfully on my mobile

Guys even i m facing the same problem after updating to 4.3

Data is gone but now i m not able to make call and sms also bcoz i just changed my baseband to lg1 and now its showing unknow baseband

rebel can i get offical baseband/modem for 4.3

I can post the MJA baseband for those who are experiencing the unknown baseband error after trying to downgrade. I have pulled it from an S3 that was updated to MJA updated. Currently we do not have a working Odin tar file for MJA update. You have to push this baseband through adb after rooting your phone.

Otherwise you can use the method posted by grebel in post #12 if the phone is not booting at all.

There is no known method to downgrade the bootloader. The new bootloader doesn't reads the older modem and u get unknown baseband error. On new baseband I was not able to activate data.

Sorry for the delayed response as system got crashed u can get Cygwin from here http://cygwin.com/install.html and after that install it and extract the MD4 tar file files to "cygwin\home\username\" and open the cygwin command prompt and the repacking steps are

1. # tar --group=1 -H ustar -c boot.img cache.img.ext4 recovery.img rpm.mbn sbl2.mbn sbl3.mbn system.img.ext4 tz.mbn NON-HLOS.bin >md4_new.tar

2. md5sum -t md4_new.tar >> md4_new.tar

3. mv md4_new.tar md4_new.tar.md5

Now u will find the MD4 modified file with name "md4_new.tar.md5" which can be flashed via odin

After flashing the above file odin PDA section now rebooted your phone to recovery mode ans select install update from SD card and select the downloaded MJA OTA file after finishing it u will be on stock 4.3

1. Data solution still not available i am trying to figure it out and i am successful till getting the PRL version 5 back on mobile.

2. Already stated in my early post the Samsung simple upgrade tool is not working its not only me facing the issue it is the same issue for every one i.e first version of 1.09 GB file got 1152 extraction error and after continuous discussion with tech team they modified the file on Dec 9 to Zip file still it is also having the issue i.e unable to extract the zip file i have tried the same thing for nearly 9 to 10 times still the error message reports.

If u are successful in extracting the file then let us know

If some is interested in trying out Kitkat 4.4 after latest update u can try it out

1. Install the clock work mod from odin PDA section u can download the latest CWM recovery from http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.3-d2usc.img for US Cellular latest one be sure to use only CWM only as TWR is not working

2. Download latest version of CyanogenMod CM11 from http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2usc and latest 4.2.2 gapps from here http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps/pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20131215-signed.zip after downloading copy both to your SD card

3. Boot your phone to recovery mode and wipe data/factory reset , wipe cache and wipe dalvin cache and after that select install from SD card and select first CM11 file and after finishing it out select the GAPPS after compeletion reboot your phone now u will be on Kitkat 4.2.2

This can be done on the phone which got stuck on boot screen of Samsung logo for the mobile which got strcuk after downgrade to 4.1.2 from 4.3 official update

Note : Mobile data is still not working on Kitkat 4.4.2 and personal feedback after using it is every thing is smooth voice,SMS, WIFI every thing is working fine. And it will also trigger your KNOX bit from 0 to 1

Even with CM11 / CM10 it wont work, as CM wont change phone radio,

And this data issue is 99% related to radio only.

i guess you meant downgrade ???

downgrading as of now isnt possible .

people should beware of taking the OTA on any imported phones,

i have been saying this since long , not to get OTA however safe it may seem for any imported phone , no matter whichever make or android version.

if it aint broke dont OTA update it
