On your desktop, open a command prompt or terminal, and go to the directory where you installed the Android SDK tools (or make sure fastboot is in your $PATH) At the prompt, type $ fastboot oem get_unlock_data The returned string will be used to retrieve your unlock key. Example: On a Windows Desktop, the returned string format would be fastboot oem get_unlock_data (bootloader) 0A40040192024205#4C4D3556313230 (bootloader) 30373731363031303332323239#BD00 (bootloader) 8A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F95 (bootloader) 1A3E5#1F53280002000000000000000 (bootloader) 0000000 Paste together the 5 lines of output into one continuous string without (bootloader) or ‘INFO’ or white spaces. Your string needs to look like this: 0A40040192024205#4C4D355631323030373731363031303332323239#BD008A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F951A3E5#1F532800020000000000000000000000 3- Unlock Check if your device can be unlocked by pasting this string in the pecific field on the Motorola website, and clicking “Can my device be unlocked?” NOTE: If your device is unlockable, a "REQUEST UNLOCK KEY" button will now appear at the bottom of that page. after you got the code type the following : fastboot oem unlock and wait your device to reboot ! 4- Enjoy 5- to relock, (pointless, isn't it?) $ fastboot oem lock credits Edited March 4, 2014 by ::Hitesh::

Its shows an open android bot with a triangle saying no command. Not sure what that means. Maybe there is nothing in the recovery partition at the moment. Suggestions anyone? EDIT : Now working. Flashed the recovery partition again. This time twrp. And now rooted. Edited April 6, 2014 by ruiner21

::Hitesh:: 1,763 Report post Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) ^^^ Use TWRP 2.6.3.2, it is tested and working perfectly. Also check you have sufficient free space in phone to store backup. Edited April 8, 2014 by ::Hitesh::
varunadg 10 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 I have downloaded TWRP 2.6.3.2 Bt wen I install that and boot to recovery it displays TWRP 2.6.3.0 at top. Bt still no luck. I'm able to take backup of everything except 'data'. And have sufficient space to store the backup.... Sent from my XT1031 using Tapatalk

Dushie 30 Report post Posted April 10, 2014 Remove the spaces between the string only....don't remove '#' from string...then try... Sent from my XT1031 using Tapatalk Tried again, no go, same message.your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking. Have posted the issue on Motorola support forum also, as many other folks having the same issue. @ hitesh : sent you message with the fast boot details. Also once you get the details for Happy please share. I have already set the SPC to zeros. Next was to unlock the bootloader and root the phone. I am really excited after seeing many posts saying that Moto G has better signal strength that other CDMA devices and many users saying they can see the improved signal quality. Dushie 30 Report post Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) ^^^ Sent you unlock string use it in fastboot and bootloader will unlocked. Thanks Hitesh, it worked just tried the code. On reboot i got the message warning bootloader unlocked. Now will root the phone. Also i had posted on Motorola support forums, the mod there asked for the string and some other data. He tried the string and said that it should work. After that when i tried on the motorola site the string worked and it said they would email me the code. So motorola support guys are aware of this issue as many people have posted there and the mods have fixed the unlock tool and updated it from the back end after receiving non working strings from users. Good to see this kind of support. Once again Thanks to Hitesh for helping out. Edited April 10, 2014 by Dushie
