SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2005 Reliance mobiles to cost less than Rs.1,500 Publish Date : 5/6/2005 7:53:00 PM Source : Moneyplans.net Staff In a bid to expand market share, telecom service provider Reliance Infocomm will slash mobile handset prices by half to cost less than Rs.1,500. "The company is poised to slash handset prices by over 50 percent in the next three months," a senior Reliance Infocomm official said. "Higher handset prices are a major deterrent for growth in a price-sensitive market like India. Talks are on with handset vendors for bringing down the price to $30 (Rs.1,300)," the official said. In February, Motorola, the US handset maker, had announced plans to sell $30 phones in developing countries, including India. The official, however, did not confirm whether Reliance was in talks with Motorola. Reliance, which offers CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)-based telecom services, feels the move would drive its growth by 10-fold from the current subscriber base of 10.2 million to 100 million in the next 3 years. India's total telephone subscriber based crossed the 100 million mark last month http://www.moneyplans.net/frontend2-verify-6621.html
