Tweak Internet Explorer Settings:step By Step

Recommended Posts

You don't need an accelerator for caching files. With Internet Explorer 6 or any other version of IE (well... may be) you can effectively load pages faster on your PC with these tweaks.

Open an Internet Explorer window and go to Tools>Internet options.

In the History Setttings of General Tab, set as much length as you wish to keep pages for reference in shortcuts under History folder. This is also essential for offline browsing.

Now click Settings to customise preferences for storing Temporary Internet files. Increase the Amount of Disk Space to be used by IE to store Temporary files (HTML Scripts, Images etc) as desired.

Let IE check newer versions of stored pages "Automatically". Here is the explanation for that.

Now, click OK to reach the Internet Options window and under the Advanced tab uncheck "Close unused folders in History and favorites" and restart your PC to let the new settings take effect.

After these, you'll never loose (upto the no of days you wish to keep them in History) most of the pages you browse through IE. You Can go to File>Work Offline and view pages you have previously visited with IE. Some pages with session IDs and pages with jhtml/asp/php may not be available in the offline mode.

It will depend on how frequently the pages you visit and how frequently the pages change their content.

Refreshing will always give you the latest one.
