Hi folks,

How are you all?

I am really confused that will I be able to switch to 4G?

I was reliance cdma pioneer customer but later after years (last year) I switched to reliance gsm because of network issues in Kanpur and was waiting for launch of 4G.

I heard that only cdma customers are migrating to 4G on cdma 4G handsets. Currently I am using iPhone 6 A1586,will I be able to switch from reliance 2G GSM to 4G on my current handset?

Please help.

Hopefully many queries would be answered in the coming week. Pls note that there hasn't been any official communication from either RCom or RJio regarding 4G LTE launch so far. Media is releasing various breaking news based on assumptions though.

Does iPhone 5S (A1530) support VoLTE without any software update?

Okay so I got a call from reliance saying that I can upgrade to 4G network right now by getting a 4G sim from any reliance store and sending an sms.

They will stop the EvDo network within a couple of days and all the cdma phones will drop to 1x only.

Calls on the 4G network will not be 4G for now, but will use reliance gsm 2G here for calling.

Cdma services will stop totally from May 31st.

And the outlets dont have any 4G sims yet, they say they should arrive within a couple of days.

Bad news I guess for the unlimited plan users like myself.

Can anybody confirm, will Redmi Note 3 work with Jio 4G on all bands, also does it have VoLTE?

I also happen to own a Sprint Note 3, will it work with Jio4G?

Now once enough people have rcom 4g or jio 4g sims (don't know how are they different)

Then after testing on various imported handsets we can have a more conclusive and concise idea

What happens if the phone has only 1 of the required LTE bands??

What happens if the phone has only 1 of the required LTE bands??

It will connect to that just one LTE band and fallback to 2G / 3G when that 4G band nw coverage is not available..

For example, my Vibe P1 supports Band 3 and 40.. RJio has band 3, 40 and 5 nw. In some places, where only band 5 coverage is available, it can't latch onto 4G and may fallback to 3G / 2G of BSNL or RCom... Even Jio-Join app will be of no use in this situation...

I was planning to get s6 for my brother brand new costing 330$ around ₹22k

But now I am skeptical if it will support indian lte bands as seller mentioned it might be a verizon or AT&T device

Most imported phones from USA [except Verizon - not sure] supports band 5 or it's super band 26. Band 3 support will also be mostly available, especially in at&t or T-Mobile. But the problem starts with Indian 3G, especially on band 8 [900MHz], which they mostly miss for sure. Almost all imported phones miss band 40 support for sure, except iPhone and few Sammy ones, AFAIK.

^^Is there a way to unlock all the bands on any phone??

All the Qualcomm chipsets have many bands, would be very useful.

There are many threads on xda to unlock bands as per device. Some got sucess, some didn't. If the lock is implemented at software level by carrier then more chances to unlock it, if band isnt supported by hardware or it is locked at radio level then its kind of difficult.

Not all handsets have easy way to unlock and support each and every band. Namely two of them with good specs standout. HTC one m 9

And galaxy s5 (us version)

I bought Galaxy s7 edge. Indian version supports all the major bands across globe. Especially if you are planning to take phone to USA then you are covered. Phone also supports all the possible bands rjio might use.
