anki_79 3 Report post Posted November 14, 2015 Hi guys , Can anybody confirm MICROMAX Canvas 5 recently launched in INDIA considering that it is having MT6735 chipset supports CDMA . This is because technically the chipset - MT6735 manufactured by MediaTek is called "world-mode" chipset supporting CDMA . Already written to Micromax team ..they have not responded till date. Do revert !!
KAPILKDEV 68 Report post Posted November 15, 2015 Their official website shows it supports only GSM+WCDMA+LTE (WCDMA represents 3G GSM). There is no CDMA+EVDO.

Not now and not when he was on earth as a mortal.Just my two cents. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

anki_79 3 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 Guys , Mr. Karan Bajaj writes Gadget review for the Times Group ( Economic Times & Times Of India ) From: Karan Bajaj <Karan.Bajaj@timesgroup.com> Thu, 19 Nov '15 5:54p To: You Show full Headers | View blocked images Hi , As far as I am aware, the Canvas 5 does not support CDMA network. The world mode is switched off like the Gionee phones on this one also. Regards Karan Bajaj Sent: Wednesday, November 18, 2015 10:59 PMTo: Karan BajajSubject: Your review Micromax Canvas 5 -- ET dated 18-Nov Dear Sir , This refers to the subject , i have a query against your review of the referred phone ie., newly launched MICROMAX CANVAS 5. Does this support CDMA network ? Technically this should because it runs on Mediatek MT6753 processor also called "world-mode" chipset , refer the attached link http://www.mediatek.com/en/products/mobile-communications/smartphone1/mt6753/ I tried contacting micromax , however there was no response , actually many Chinese made phones in India on the same chipset come with the CDMA option turned off ex- GIONEE F-103, though it is supported in other regions. Your help / may be a little experimentation in this regard , since you may be well connected will be of great help .This is because micromax has earlier given support for CDMA NETWORKS Await your positive response. KAPILKDEV 68 Report post Posted November 20, 2015 seems that world mode is turned off in Micromax Canvas 5 and Gionee Marathon 5. Any custom ROM to turn on them on worldmode?
KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted November 21, 2015 I am sure the world mode was deliberately switched OFF just to avoid patent issues or to be precise, to avoid paying royalty to qualcomm..
