man-saturday 32 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 Indian 4G LTE Bands BAND 3 LTE 1800 (JIOLife) BAND 5 LTE 850 BAND 40 LTE 2300 Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk Hi, Just a thought. Since Jio works on band 3 as indicated above, what if a Volte phone works only on band 3 & band 5. Should it not be enough if someone wants to stay on in the Rcom-Jio partnership. For this band 40 support would not be necessary, would it?

For this band 40 support would not be necessary, would it? Quite right. But as we can see Jio's initial launches are all on 2300MHz. And Rcom is coming up with 800MHz LTE. Rather there is no update regarding Jio-RCom's 1800MHz spectrum sharing yet now.

silent_god 121 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 I know, this post is for compatibility of smartphones with 4G network, however, my question is "what about dumbphone ?" I mean, basic handset with keypad. Will they work with 4G network, especially for voice / sms ? Reason is my parents, who are on cdma network since long because of the call quality & not really for data. They use basic handset with keypad, no touch phones. So, do I need to specially search for compatible handsets or any gsm device can do ?

amitnsonu 72 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 I recently used rgsm sim to check whether the network has improved or same as it used to be. And surprisingly there is lot of improvement in network coverage as well as voice clarity.

(recently, there is some fight going on in court for this call drop issue, which I never knew existed.) However, as cdma is switching off, I will have no choice but to go to r-gsm first & then, move to another network if not satisfied. May even give a try to Volte later on..Let's see. dev_4_all 11 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 As rcom is slowly moving away from cdma to lte Something should be done so that we can use our existing cdma sprint phones with rcom lte or rjio as the handsets which we are using are fairly new n have another year or 2 life remaining Any app which may allow phone to latch on the rcom rg network
ngr.hd 5 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 Well, atleast those of who are using Moto E 2nd gen xt126 can use their new GSM sim without any change of handset. And the device is also well supported on XDA, so no update problems.
