Can I Use Rim Sets With Other Cdma Operator?

Recommended Posts

:P

Can anyone tell me if RIM sets like LG-RD2330 & SCH-N356 can be used with other CDMA operator other than RIM, outside India.

If yes, how??

It can be used like that, if you have the technical knowledge to do it. Otherwise, no operator outside or even inside India will 'allow' you that.

If yes, how??

Sorry, but such discussions are not allowed here.

TO ADMININSTRATOR

What do you think such an unofficial forum is for? To get answers to questions which Reliance does not give. Not to know of new offers which in any case come in all papers and websites.

Anyways, using the set on some other network is NOT illegal, because all handsets are taken on downpayment now, and the set is the owner's property after purchase, so he has the right to do anything with it, including using it with some other operator.

As regards your forum and your imprudent action, I would urge you to let such discussions happen so that newbie users like me are able to make full use of the real intended purpose of the forum. Frankly, I don't see it to know about the JAZZY new offers! I need solid answers.

Btw, I am using a Tata phone, please tell me how to use it on Reliance network. Or program it. If you can't post it on this forum, then please mail me on rohsum@yahoo.com

You dead right. I fully support you. Its like saying " stealing things in my right but if someone else does its a crime". If you so concerned about the legal issue than please shut this forum down. i hate dastards in my life.

Arun: Why can't we discuss this?

Yes you can use any of these phones with a third party operator provided the operator supports 3rd party phones. If they do - you will have to take the phone to them so that they can configure it to their networks.

Of course where firmware upgrades are required you will most likely be out of luck. Take for example the "customisation" done by LG/Samsung to load RWorld on your mobile... unless the third party operator can flash your phone and load in his applications you wont get those services.

admins are really scared of reliance, they may be right as they do not do this for money. They might be able to generate revenues just enouhgh for maintaining site. But discusiing issues may not be illegal. Puting it in action is.

All CDMA phones has OTAP so it can be activated on any network if they register ESN of your hand set to their network. Once it is done it can log on to said network and be reprogrammed. There are other methods which are illegal all over and also expensive. Firmware upgrade is required only if you want to use operator specific services like R world in case of RIM

I am rather shocked. Is rimweb sort of a hostage to reliance interests?

Is there an unofficial funding support to rimweb by reliance?

we all wish there were funding to support this!

it would make arun's life a little easier...

:D

its more of a legal liability issue which no one will have the time or money to fight if taken to court for discussing/promoting forbidden activities

I doubt if they're being funded by RIM. But Arun wants to play it safe and not get into any legal hassals or controversies.

I don't agree with Arun on that front, but yes this forum shouldn't promote sharing of information that could end up being used for illegal purposes. Of course where to draw the line is anybodys guess as India doesn't have very clear cyber/right-to-information laws.

Even so, saying that a question like this one can't be discussed here is pretty ridiculous. Specially since operators like BSNL DOES support this i.e. the customer can get his own CDMA phone and BSNL activates it for them!

Of course before you do that you should clear all dues (including paying for the phone) with your current service provider).
