LTE4G 195 Report post Posted October 30, 2017 A new feature has been added to the MyJio app which now allows user to switch or change the primary/default number attached with the account called "Switch account".
KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted October 31, 2017 That switch account button is new, but the feature was available for long time. I have linked 7 jio numbers in a single account. Earlier there will a drop down list box style button near the number to switch to other numbers or to see the details of other numbers' validity / data usage etc, to be precise. Now they have straight away given the button. The most useful new addition is the detail of "LAST device used", immediately under the button. Wow, now I need not check what number is in which device by making a call. I appreciate Jio's efforts in improving UI of MyJio app.
LTE4G 195 Report post Posted December 23, 2017 Jio has introduced a new "Jio Pay" prepaid auto recharge feature. This helps to set auto debit for monthly recharge from the users credit card and ₹600 Cashback is also offered. Apart from this now there is an additional option called "Payment Settings" under settings which allows you to either choose auto pay or link Paytm or JioMoney account for hassle free payments. The option for Paytm & JioMoney is already there (JioMoney is launching payment bank too very soon). 1 hour ago, commonman said: I would rather prefer adding recharge when specific offers are available and queuing them up for future. that also serves the same purpose. I personally prefer 'My Vouchers' option as I can buy & store vouchers when good offers are there and later use them on whichever connection & whenever I wish. I can transfer too if I want to anyone in the family. Jio has been introducing several features for its consumers & its importance or use differs from person to person. Though wallet linking option seems safe & nice. It is still not clear how will one get ₹600 Cashback if he chooses auto pay - may be some kind of discount per deduction will be there. KanagaDeepan 1,084 Report post Posted December 23, 2017 I would rather prefer adding recharge when specific offers are available and queuing them up for future. that also serves the same purpose. I am talking about Postpaid connection, where Auto-debit is MANDATORY. I am using Jio-Link, which is a post paid (still FREE service for 14 months and God knows when will they launch paid service) service and I am NOT ready to link my bank A/C. For me this wallet linking is a good option. For prepaid, obviously auto-debit is as good as useless, nullifying the goodness of Vouchers and plan queuing options of Jio, imho. You are right. But It may be good for those who are using ₹149 and don't want to be bothered about recharging every 28 days to get uninterrupted service. This can be for them who don't want to spend extra in advance and don't need much data & their primary requirement is voice calls only. A person has to spend 447 for 84 days if recharging with 149 and only get unlimited calls + total 12 GB. With 50 discount voucher 449 becomes 409. So recharging 149 does not seem a wise choice. You are right as ₹459 is the best option for most of us (including me & my wife) but my father-in-law is using the JioPhone with ₹153 plan and seldom uses data (only for watching/listening news in JioTV when he is somewhere out). Most senior citizens use phone for calls and prefer paying monthly rather paying in advance for 3 months since data is not their concern or requirement. They are interested in free calls only which they are getting by paying ₹149. Let me put here that even ₹149 is too much for some who rarely make any calls and are using number for just communicating with rest of the family (mostly incoming) reason still most of the low ARPU users are on other networks as Jio is forcing users to opt for fixed validity recharges to use their services unlike others wherein one can load talk time and use it occasionally beyond 28 days without spending extra. In India people still process more than one Sim (minimum 2 sim) - so if someone was using more than 3 or 4 sims has to balance his monthly expenses towards keeping them active. After the advent of Jio now people are dumping extra Sims which are not important. Even old Jio sim is being discarded after porting the main number to Jio by some people. Jio is mainly good for data users as Volte still has some glitches which differ from handset to handset.
commonman 228 Report post Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) People started using multiple SIMs in India mainly to take advantage of special offers of different operators. One of the reason that forced manufacturers to concentrate on dual SIM handsets. In most other countries, a person has a single SIM or at best two. Here many have 4 SIMs and carry two dual SIM phones. Now that most operators offer unlimited calls, this no longer seems necessary. The age of consolidation has also started. RCom and MTS are gone. Even BSNL CDMA is gone. Tata Docomo and Aircel are on the way out. Soon there will be only Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, BSNL and Jio. So people will be forced to reduce the number of SIMs they have and the ARPU would go up to around 200/mth. One more factor is Adhaar linking. Legally, a person can have a maximum of 9 connections in his name across all circles and across all operators, including both mobile and datacard connections, but this is not practically enforced as there is no common database. With adhaar linking, all connections would be linked to a particular adhaar and so it would be easy to find the number of connections in one adhaar. LTE4G 195 Report post Posted January 16, 2018 (edited) Now you can get rid of the irritating 'Hello Jio' floating icon which appears every time you start MyJio app. Although one could drag and drop the icon on the delete icon near the bottom center of the screen or could permanently stop it by disabling the 'pop up permission' in the app permissions settings, but now after complaining several times Jio has provided a switch to enable or disable it. See the screenshot below : 1. Go to the MyJio settings > App Settings (you can see the 'HelloJio' as activated) 2. Tap on 'HelloJio' - a pop-up menu will appear. 3. Now switch off 'enable'. That's it, done! The thumbnail icon will not appear any more. Edited January 16, 2018 by LTE4G
