Beetle 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2005 Rs.20,000? Isnt that cheap..! Thats like paying 30$s per month, as cheap as Yahoo DSL (20$s pm for 256kbps) etc.. making it one of the cheapest broadband!! I dont think there is a data limit on this! Leased Line Tarrif Its cheaper than DSL Rs1800 per month package Now, isnt that cute
rEdshiFt 1 Report post Posted May 28, 2005 nice info beetle... there has to be a catch here somewhere... what do all the "distance in kms" in the tariff table mean?
anujit 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2005 Ah yes the distance is from their base stations and you need fancy modems, installation charges, deposits etc. Leased lines are used by offices only as their setup and maintenance cost is very high compared to regular (a)dsl/broadband. Chirag 5 Report post Posted May 28, 2005 I've been told that u need to pay for the cable laying charges for such leased lines. But trust me, once that gets done, it surely can work out cheaper, eventually! Infact a few establishments who have more than 10connections each get together and get such a thing set up, it can work out well!!
harsh 1 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 the above prices are only for leased data circuits. they do not include internet. plain leased data circuit also can be used to join 2 offices in a different, or far locations. following page has the tariff of internet... http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/internet_tariff1.htm that would be additional cost on leased data circuit tarrif to get the internet running on the leased data circuit. 2mbps is the maximum bandwidth capacity of the line which has 20k annual tariff. for 2mbps internet, annual rate is Rs. 18,92,500/- plus taxes. one can even go for a lower speed on the same line, ranging from 64k to 2mbps. so dont dare to dream that 2mbps internet on leased lines are coming to us @ 20k annually. abhi delhi bahot doooor hai ..!!! rEdshiFt 1 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 the above prices are only for leased data circuits. they do not include internet.nice... that kinda explains a lot... so everything in that table is over and above the internet charges ...definetly not my kinda tarrifs... Tariff for port charges of internet leased line service taken for self use (Excluding ISP's) is given below: it is like what anujit had hinted ! ... its > 18 Lakhs per annum for a 2mb line...and add to this whatever applies from the first table !! im getting dizzy ... nothin really makes sense - Rs.9000 per month for a 64kbps line ?? wtf? i think i'll wait for EVDO... sounds gud enuf for me, and govt has asked RIL to provided evdo servics at no extra costs for existing customers...something to that effect. anujit 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 The advantage here is that you have a stronger circuit. And 64kpbs usually does mean 64kpbs unless it is a SILL (Shared Internet Leased Circuit) in which case you're assured on 1/4th of the max speed only. But you also get a fixed ip etc that you need for a corporate perspective.
Chirag 5 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 Infact my Cable Dude, has 2-3 of these leased lines from diff ISPs and thts what he does... he shares them amongst us! And i get nothing less than 12kBps of download speeds!! Am quite happy, looking at the scenario arnd! 550bucks for this wid no restrictions is amazing!
