How To Get A Service Code Number?

Recommended Posts

Hi Members,

You are all familiar with 4 digit or short digit services

for eg. 7333 for Rediff, 8888 for Indiatimes

All i know is, if we contact a particular operator and convince him that we have

a useful service we would get a 4 digit no assigned..

but before that

If we apply for such a service, will it be usefull for us ?

PS: Also if anyone know the exact formalities regarding this service,

please post it here

Also, please suggest unique ideas for what kind of services to offer on such a system.

Yes i'm very much interested in such kind of services. But since reliance has r world , it wants its users to stick to its services rather than go for something else.Being the monopolistic that reliance is , it maybe wants other mobile operators to use r world rather than their users use something else (like indiaimes, rediff etc).

So i dont think reliance will accept our humble  petition.

Yes but do we yet have a 4 digit no. for bazee, matrimonial and stuff, if its there I'm not aware of it, does anyone know it?

And also if we do someday apply for this service do we have to pay Reliance for gaining rights for providing service in their network, then do we have to pay per sms received or like in advance, does someone have more info?

I dont think you have pay as per the amount of data send and received

If they charge something, it will be mostly like a fixed amount

One good idea would be for an SMS2email gateway. This would help us to contact people who do not have mobiles.

Interesting! Can u describe this in more detail. As to how u want it working, and wht wud be the procedure for the user at one end n the automated system at the other end.

I think so.

But the other view why we goto other services like "indiaimes, rediff ", with in some period all services will be provided by RWorld. Keep touch with RWorld whether it is free.

Regarding sms2email.. its all possible..

But wat we need is the service no registered in Reliance

Secondly a phone connected to pc with connection of free sms

All this sounds bit costly...

Anyone know the exact expense ?

The idea is like this:

The first 2 or 3 phrases will be the email id we will send. No commas between them (to save on characters of course, 160 being the max) Subject is to be identified by prefixing and suffixing either a * or a period. The rest of the sms would constitute the body of the text. So, for example:

abc@rimweb.com jkl@bsnl.co.in xyz@gmail.com *New contact #* Hey, my new number will be 9393939393.

The above example sends an email to 3 recipients. The subject is between the markers, and the rest is the body. So the backend can easily process the data and convert the sms in to an email.

From field could be 09393939393 SMS2email gateway or something like that.

Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place to post this message, but I thought only experts can answer this.

I want to know how can someone get the special service code number for Reliance (or any other operator)?

By service code number I mean the numbers like 8888, 7777 where people can send sms to get some kind of service or ringtone etc. for example mauj.com has 7007 where anybody can sms them to get themes and wallpapers.

hope someone know this. thank you

Thanks for replying Ganesh and sajokj.

Actually, what I wanted to know was how do these guys get a particular number? say if someone wants to start their own service, with a number 4343 (supposing it doesn't exist already) where people could text News to 4343 and then they get the latest news as a reply, or say they text Mono CODE to 4343 and then get the paid ringtone back.

So, I was wondering how can one get such a number from Reliance (or Orange, Airtell, Idea...etc.)

Thanks

The service code number need not necessarily be 4 digit numbers, you can even use your own mobile phone number. I'm not sure whether Reliance provides this facility as I haven't seen any advertisers mentioning 93 numbers in their ads yet. I had tried to contact Reliance inquiring about such services, but I haven't received any responses yet.

There was a similar topic regarding this, which I've found it here now.

Thanks Arun, that is exactly what I had been looking for.

Yes, you can do that with your own mobile number, where you can may be connect the phone to the computer and using some software get the commands from users like NEWS and then reply them with the latest NEWS.

But this won't work as a business model, you will be providing a free service to the users, they SMS using their operators, thus their operators charge them and you get nothing. While if you talk to the operator and make some partnership or pay them (I don't know how it works) then the operator can serve as your payment gateway.

So, if you set the price for a ringtone rs. 7 or 10, the operator charges the customer and pays some % to you (I don't know howdo they fix it). Same goes with the amount charged for each SMS sent for other services like News, score, etc.

I just wanted to share the info with people who doesn't know about it. If you or someone else know more about it, please let me know.

Thanks
