deepu 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 (edited) Here's a complete solution for those who want to be completely equipped while on the move. And in the most compact way possible. Nokia has launched a compact, handheld tablet device powered by Linux at LinuxWorld in New York this week. The Nokia 770 Internet Tablet has a WVGA (800x480) screen. It is aimed to offer convenient Internet browsing and email through built-in Wi-Fi, or via a Bluetooth connection to a compatible mobile phone. The handheld will be available later this year. The 770 is a perfect combination of portable fashionable design and with great user friendly features. The Nokia 770 Internet Tablet's software is upgradeable and currently runs on the Linux-based Internet Tablet 2005 software edition. There is a planned launch next year of an operating system upgrade - the Internet Tablet 2006 software addition - that will support additional services, including Internet telephony (VoIP) and Instant Messaging. The device runs on Linux based Nokia Internet Tablet 2005 software edition which includes widely deployed desktop Linux and Open Source technologies. The maemo development platform www.maemo.org will provide Open Source developers and innovation houses with the tools and opportunities to collaborate with Nokia on future devices and OS releases in the Internet Tablet category. The device has a stereo headphone jack and can connect to a PC via USB. Also, the 770 has Bluetooth and can connect with that to a Bluetooth-enabled PC; with a Bluetooth mobile phone, the 770 can connect through that to the Internet. One slot that can accept 64MB Reduced Size MultiMedia Cards has been included on the tablet as well. Nokia claims the lithium ion battery will give approximately 3.5 hours of battery life. rEdshiFt 1 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 Nice pics... Nice piece... it doesnt look too big on the pic, but its nearly half a foot wide !! :0 i like touchscreens and i jus luv tablets... u know, i really want to get rid of my keyboard... i want some other input technology... think abt it- the keyboard is so old and cumbersome. Im sick of it...serious. wish ppl wld develop alternate input methods sooner.... For some reason, i dont like the Voice_input tecnno much i want a handwriting input... yeah, thats what i want - a handwriting recog utility that lets me write with a pen INSTEAD OF TYPIN... maybe even write on the screen... would make a LOT of things easier.
