anujit 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2005 New “World Phone” From Motorola Set to Launch in China Posted Jun 1, 2004, 1:50 PM ET by Michael Sciannamea Later this year Motorola is set to unveil a dual CDMA/GSM cell phone designed to work on most of the world’s wireless networks—however, for now, it’s only being released in China. The ”world phone” will be released in conjunction with China Unicom, China’s second largest carrier. The company plans to launch the phone later this year with Indian CDMA carriers Tata and Reliance, as well as with U.S. CDMA carrier Verizon Wireless. Some telecoms analysts have expressed concern about the cost and technical performance of such dual-band phones, but Motorola insists that its handset will function as well as standard models and allow users to access data services on both networks. http://wireless.weblogsinc.com/entry/2126803923513224/
