vb86 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2005 Since i didnt have usb2 ports on my comp i purchased a 4port card today and plugged it in. It works fine, but i dont know how to change the port speeds. I know that for onboard usb ports the speeds can be changed from the BIOS, but what about the PCI USB cards? I want to use my card on full speed.
anujit 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2005 What speed is it running at? And how do you measure it? If your card is a USB 2.0 Card it will run at 400 Mbps. Since this is the lastest version the port speed will be dependant on the device speed (i.e. whether the device you attach to the USB computer supports USB 2.0 or 1.1 or 1.0 etc). harsh 1 Report post Posted August 5, 2005 if the port is usb 2.0 it operates on full speed by default. it runs on low speed if the device is usb 1.1. there are no settings as such in a pci card for the speed settings as you want to do.
vb86 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2005 thanks for ur replies. i figured that out yesterday. The speed depends on the device you connect ie. the max speed the device can support.
