solanky 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 Hello, Recently I have some problem with my ISP so I am thinking of a new internet connection. One Reliace Franchise in my area giving Reliace dial up internet with unlimited data transfer for Rs. 550 per month. The plan suits for me but I have heard for first time that you can use reliance dial up internet without a reliance phone. Have anybody any idea what is it?? he has told me a long name for this service but I forgot it.

rEdshiFt 1 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 for that matter, normal rconnect is 'dial-up' too. ___________ i guess we have these cards for laptops where u dont need a phone to connect online, but thats nothin new (and its surely not 500 for unlimited). i dont know this 'scheme' ur talking about though. im sure its not thro these laptop_fitting_cards. would like to know whats the scene tho... Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 I think He must be talking about 650/- per month Plan (with 1 GB limit). And about "reliance dial up internet without a reliance phone", it must be Sierra wireless card... Sierra Wireless Card
ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 Or it could be that the Reliance guys just provide a WireLine (but no Phone / Handset) at the said address ... but the rate stumps me ...

Arun 795 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 Reliance dial up Internet without getting a phone/connection from Reliance doesn't make sense. If it is R-Connect (dial up ofcourse), then there should be a phone/connection from Reliance. And unlimited data transfer for Rs.550 per month doesn't fall in R-Connect tariff anyway. ankitengr 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Solanki, I think some consusion is there. plz again confirm from Reliance Franchise in your area and tell us again. u not specify what is ur area ? specify this to all of us. so the member can more help. as per my inquiry till today there is no plan in Rs.550/- P.M. for unlimited data transfer. Reliance Franchise is also bull**** like their Customer Care. They have less knowledge. I share an incident with me. I inquire about the data plan from the Reliance Franchise they told me that Rs.650/- P.M. with unlimited data transfer and i select this plan but after 1 month a bill of Rs.10,000/- was sent to me. after asking they told me that not unlimited data transfer this is for unlimited surfing upto 1 G.B. lol . So be careful before the selecting plan. Now about the dial up without phone. this is FWT. confirm this and tell us. and plz specify ur area. No knowledge is good in compare to Less knowledge. solanky 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Hi friends, A lot of replies and queries are here. Yesterday I once again went to the dealer for all the queries. I will point out them as following :- 1. It is dial up through Modem though wireline without a phone. 2. It is not broadband, not Rconnect, not Sierra wireless. The dealer calls this scheme IDSL. ( I doubt..) 3. The dealer is running DID Exchange of Reliane Infocomm as he is told me. 4. There is no installation fee, no security fee, Rs. 550 per month inclusive of all taxes, unlimited data transfer, 24 hours available. 5. Offcourse it is dial up so speed will be around 30 to 50. 7. My area is Delhi NCR ( Ghaziabad). After checking all the things carefully with him I have ordered him to install the internet at my home. ( Because there is no installation, security fee. If I am not satify I can disconnect after one month). It will be installed either today or tomorrow. So wait for couple of days I will provide more information. Chirag 5 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 This i believe is nothing new. We have things like these in Mumbai for more than 2 yrs now. And yes, its called Reliance ka broadband internet. The thing, they say, is that they take a DSL Broadband connection like thing from Reliance(a leased line) of say 1Mbps or more. And divide it out amongst their customer base for something like 20-50kbps each. Thats wat i've been using for now 3 yrs. Though my provider uses Dishnet and VSNL for his needs. I pay 550 bucks a month (inclusive taxes) for UNLIMITED Data Transfer.
Arun 795 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 ah i c, then that must be what Solanky was talking about, a shared connection actually. But its not dial up connection !

Arun 795 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Our local cable wallah also provides it around Rs.500 per month. But remember that since it is a shared connection, the speeds will depend very much on the number of subscribers using/sharing the connection at that time. ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Yeee !!! i have the cheapest connection around (and well it is quite stable) I get unlimited downloads (actual DL speeds are like 5-7 Kbps) at Rs. 375/- per month. Cheers Ashok
Chirag 5 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Yeee !!! i have the cheapest connection around (and well it is quite stable) I get unlimited downloads (actual DL speeds are like 5-7 Kbps) at Rs. 375/- per month. 38260[/snapback] my cablenet guy gives the same plan at that rate. Wat i get is approx 10-11kBps at 550/month. Which is quite good i guess. Moreover, arun, these fellows somehow make sure that we get atleast these speeds, constant. Speeds can increase sometimes, but doesn't decrease than promised. I dont know how they do it, but they do cap the speeds somehow.
solanky 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2005 Today this connection has been installed at my home. This is dial up connection. I have to dial to 300. And this connection is from Reliance Infocom. I have used it for almost 4 hours since now and there is no disconnection in between as it was used to be in MTNL. Rest later.
