ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted August 25, 2005 it is still in beta ... so bugs are obvious... lets see what the outcome is gonna be ... considering googles standards the expectations can be excellent! cheers Ashok
anujit 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2005 Ashok: Google never plans to get out of beta.... just like ICQ. They're reasoning is good for Gmail. They can stop spammers/crazy-200-account creaters and all that stuff by making obtaining Gmail accounts "people centric" and now you have 50 invites/day. So you can invite the whole freakin world! Vishal: What do those commands do anyways that GTalk doesnt do by itself during startup? Most like register, auto update etc work by default.
ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted August 26, 2005 ICQ comes out of beta, but then decides on yet another release ... and that remains in beta till about 2 days are left for .... the next release! thatz why it is seen mostly in beta. but I believe G! Talk will be better off releasing final versions! lots of people have aversion to testing betas (ask my college admin! no installing winzip beta (coz according to him, beta versions are buggy and can make viruses), i still wonder if that is the case, why should virus coders waste hours of their time coding viruses ? cant they just release software betas which can produce virii ?) <- The misconceptions people can have... hehe... Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 HURRAH!!!!!!!! I found the solution... Shabz u can try the following to get rid of that ERROR. I was doing r&d with my browser's settings to make it work. And VOILLA I got the solution. Simply disable the SSL option in ur browser's settings. In Firefox: goto: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Security & uncheck both checkboxes Use SSL 2.0, Use SSL 3.0. In Internet Explorer goto: Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Security & uncheck both checkboxes Use SSL 2.0, Use SSL 3.0. It worked for me. Shabz tell me if it works for u too or not? Shabz 8 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 Vishal it worked but does that mean I have to forgo my security to log onto Google talk
Vishal Gupta 4 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 I found nothing so interesting in Google talk... So if u too didnt find nething special in it and don't want to use it, then u can safely re-enable that SSL option again in browser settings. And if u want to use it and want security too then u can disable the SSL option when u want to login in Google talk and re-enable the option after logging off from Google talk. Thats the solution now. And I'm sure this problem will be solved in newer versions of Google talk! Till then wait n watch...

TCP/IP 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 Are the chats server side or peer 2 peer? Yahoo uses Peer 2 Peer and not always a good idea since anyone from chatrooms can get your IP address easily. I was under the impression that IP addresses can be found out only by those on your contact list but isn't true. Infact from the Yahoo Chat Rooms, ther users can view your IP. Probably using Ethereal or something.
