Tata Going For Min-min Charge

guys today i had read in newspaper that tata indicom is shifting itself to minute to minute usage plans from saecond to second...Now what happens to true paid,,,,,,,,Sabse zyaada talktime......<<<<

Dude You are right, but 1 seconds pulse voucher is also available in the market. This is only another new bwginning.

Well its a stupid business model. Plus it makes for REALLY EXPENSIVE CALLS! It was like 3 bucks a minute!

Sorry to say but they have changes the call charges for Talk More Coupons. Secondly, they are giving TATA-TATA Mobile Free for no extra charge.

I mean in 330 coupon they are giving 300 and in 350 Talk more they give 318 with Free TATA-TATA Mobile.

Hey Anujit,

I don’t know what upset u. Tata indicom at this time given cheapest rate in the mobile sector. As u know, it has three standard voucher and two 0123 Talk More vouchers. In standard voucher it give Rs. 300/- talk time for the Rs. 330/- recharge voucher and Rs. 500 Talk time with Rs. 551/- voucher (See this for other plan charges Tata Indicom Charges. Which is about double in the present Industry model.

Now came with Tariff Charges, u will say it charge more for a minute conversation (i.e. Rs. 1.80 for all mobiles and dot phones in the Local Circle), but do u know, u pay about Rs. 2/- for a minute conversation in reliance (Only reliance to reliance) and about Rs. 3 to call other phones in your circle.

Now u say, how it is possible, Lets Take the Reliance Voucher of Rs. 330. What u get only Rs. 149/- Talk Time and Rs. 151 monthly rental. the call rate as u know is 1 Rs for reliance to reliance and 1.80 for reliance to other phone in the same circle. U only use 149/- for the call and other 151 is given to the monthly rental. Whether in Tata, u get this rental also as ur talk time. That means u give double for a call (i.e. call charge Rs. 0.99 or 1.79 and the rental for every call (Which is just half of the total price.). Then What rates truly u get is Rs. 2 for reliance to reliance and Rs. 3.60 for other phones.

And also check, it is second based charge. Try to understand, what u lost or what u give.

Rajan man, crappy business model = charging per second whereas they pay ADC/interconnect PER MINUTE! Thats what defies logic.

Secondly using full talktimes don't matter that much - whom you call/usage patterns/sms/std/roaming etc need to be factored in too to see where you're getting best value.

ADC and inerconnect charges are paid on per minute basis on total accumulated seconds. e.g. A TATA subscriber makes to two calls to RIM of duration 1 min 25 seconds and 35 seconds, TATA will have to pay ADC and interconnect charges for 2 minutes and not for 3 minutes. Hence, TATA is not loosing out by giving a per second pulse.

Wow Puneet thats great. But why do operators reduces call charges by Rs 0.50 when ADC is reduced by the same amount! That means we are paying full per minute ADC when we're actually using much much less! $#$*#&!!!

Really! If thats true, then we subscribers are paying LOT more as ADC than the telco has to pay to BSNL/MTNL! :angry:

They have a very simple reason for that: TRAI had sometime in distant past made billing on per minute basis mandatory. Inefficiancy of the BSNL is another. Despite the long period given to BSNL, it has still not migrated to CDR based billing and all accounts with BSNL are still settled on pulse based billing records.

Anujit, You may right. But as i think it is best valued. TATA Indicom has two cons. First, it did not have very wide network and second, its customer care base is not so strong as it is in reliance. Some problem of customer care are solved by its TATA Indicom Hub and its COCO. But on other front (Specially Talk time, i.e. at price front), it is best valued mobile company. Your cones are invited, i will try my best to answer all of your question.

Yes! Its official, The TATA finally moving to 1 minute/pulse

PTI [ SUNDAY, AUGUST 28, 2005 09:57:01 AM]KOLKATA: Tata Tele-Services Ltd (TTSL), the leading CDMA cellular service provider, has decided to switch its billing from per second pulse to per minute pulse and devise a differential tariff plan for calls made within its own network. Despite DoT contemplating banning cellular operators from offering lower rates for calls made within its network, the company said it would go ahead with the new plan, scheduled to be launched this month. "Yes, we are moving ahead with our launch plans to offer cheaper rates for Tata Indicom mobile users. If DoT comes out with a directive, then we will withdraw it," TTSL COO Rajesh Puri said. He said the company, in its new plan, would effect per minute pulse rate from per second pulse "for easy benchmarking of our lower tariff against that offered by the competitors". The post-paid mobiles are already in the minute pulse billing system. The company is also launching two new pre-paid cards of the Rs 180 and Rs 550 (including service tax) in place of the previous minimum of Rs 330. Tata Indicom cell users would be able to make calls free of charge within the circle, while calls to other mobile operators and Tata Walky would be charged at Rs 1 per minute. Calls to all landlines would cost Rs 2 per minute and STD calls would be Rs 3 per minute, Puri said. The company, buoyed by the impressive growth recorded in the Eastern market since its launch early this year, has decided to invest Rs 576 crore during the current fiscal. Tata will also roll out services in Assam and the Northeast in 2006. It already has a presence in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal in the East, where they have invested Rs 455 crore during the last financial year. Besides, the group is planning to lay optic fibre cables and cell sites in the eastern region and will invest Rs 576 by March 2006. Out of the total planned outgo in the current year, Rs 250 crore would be used for laying OFC, Puri said. TTSL manages wireless business and VSNL looks after wired telecom under the brand Tata Indicom and intends to have a national footprint in 21 circles and 3,000 towns. It has set business turnover target of Rs 250 crore during 2005-06 and a total customer base of one million, a four fold growth in just eight months.

Hmmmm ... seems a stupid model to u, but i c some logic in it... there are niche users like me who would like to talk to someone - but too kangal or simply

kanjoos to literally call up someone and then talk over to him for a whole ten minutes.. What I would possibly do in those situations is ask the opposite guy to call me back ( calling from a "cell" seems a good excuse and often works for me ) ! So that way, I may spend a max of, say 50-60 paise on that. Y shud i pay for a whole minute worth of call ? Thats the logic dude.....

Pay cash only for the time ( in secs ) that u talk.... & more importantly, this seems ONLY for the Niche user - who wont talk minutes n minutes on the fone...

This is my version of justifying Tata's 1 sec billing ! :D

Some good news from tata, as he plan to cover all 2500 city in coming months so network problem may solved. But i belong to UP, Now here its network is working fine as compare to reliance. As in outer area of Agra (about 20km radius) u cannot access the RIM but no problem with TATA.

Regarding Customer Care, U know all about reliance customer care, what a strong base. TATA's HUB and Offices are now more customer freindly as compare to Reliance and their web world.

I still have a Nokia 3585 given with a Tata connection ages ago ... now deactivated... let me rethink of activating that too ... so I can give comments better on this topic

BPL already has 1 second billing. So, in Mumbai atleast, HUTCH might continue 1 second billing for both BPL n Orange from 1st Jan, 2006. U work4hutch, rite ?

Great deal from Tata Indicom. I think, customers will go crazy for this. I am not sure about coverage, call quality etc... in Tata lines. One good thing I hear is this TATA Indicom connections are already 3G enabled. If this is correct then Tata Indicom can offer high-speed internet connection as well in the future.

Their calling rates are (for Postpaid) bit expensive but for prepaid customers without having to pay monthly rental for two years with total recharge value will definitely push customers towards this plan. Especially new customers.

Also, I could see Tata Indicom phones may not be operator specific unlike Reliance ones. If this is also be the case going for Tata Indicom plan will make you an abosolute winner.

Only issue is hand-set options for advanced users.

EGO-Pocket PC is there but not sure about the price.

It lacks 3G capabilities. I don't see expandable memory .
