The consumer forum issued the order acting on a petition filed by Satyanarayan Rungta who had accused the private mobile service provider and its agent of terminating services of his two mobile numbers after sending false bills. The petition, filed in 2004 made then Reliance Infocom Limited chief Mukesh Ambani and Balaji Agency as opposite parties and challenged their right to terminate Rungta’s two phone numbers against wrong bills which the petitioner claimed to have paid. Hearing the case, the forum president Babaji Sahoo and members Sapan Pani and S. Swain in their August 16 judgement held the opposite parties guilty of deficiency of service. While no representative from the Balaji Agency turned up, the Reliance in a written reply argued that the petitioner should have reduced the already paid amount from the subsequent outstanding bills. It also charged the petitioner of committing breach of contractual obligation. However, the consumer forum turned down the argument and ordered for payment of Rs. 10,000 as fine besides Rs. 500 towards litigation costs. The service provider had terminated two mobile numbers of the petitioner Its may be beginning of result. Take Care!
