To access R-World, launch the web browser on your PC and visit http://pda.ricinfo.com

well, there actually is ( i mean at least there was a way...)

but only if u had r-connect..

to access r-world , raw mode, create a dialup to #777 and the username is sam1 and password is password.

thats it, you get connected to r-worlds primary server...

(what i have stated here is what used to work earlier, and i have absolutely no idea wheather it still works)

This is what happens in the fone (if my friend from Reliance... who visits the forum often... reads this please correct if anything is wrong... )

A Signin and Certificate exchange takes place between the phone and server and the file _main.ks gets downloaded / updated.

after this depending on the language settings the LOCALE file is updated.

The Main menu (contentInfo) is downloaded next, and a menu is displayed on the screen, along with the menu displayed, hyperlinks to midlets stored on the same server is issued. like for eg. to show MMS, this is passed

"com.jataayu.mmsclient.MMSClient"

The certificate validation for midlets downloaded seems to be from http://ssg.wdsap.ricinfo.com/ssg

So in order to actually use the R-World stuff on PC, u will need to try using a Simulator / Mobile emulator (I think we could get it from DADP site... I have got long back from there), connect to the net thro R-Connect (to be on the same Subnet .. hopefully)

Anyone who wishes can surely try this out

Cheers Mates

Ashok

Proxy server can help I guess.... what we used to do to sms to trump numbers.... as u can message trump mobiles from MTNL dial up, and not from other connections... so I had a proxy server running from my friends connection thro which I used to message !

Step by Step process as Rajan feels that there are a lot of Newbies here (after all this time this forum has been running)

I use a 2030 (until someone donates another handset to me , yeah the other handsets I have are exclusively to fiddle around.

HOW THE H**L DID I FIGURE OUT WHAT I POSTED EARLIER?

1. I connected my small handset to the comp using serial cable.

a. Reset R-Menu

b. Deleted all crap from AMS folder

c. Opened R-world

d. Using BitPim Read the file system

e. Interpreted the information ... using a part of my brain.

f. Posted on Rimweb

1.a.1

Reset R-Menu

To do this press Menu+7+4 on ur Reliance India Mobile LG RD2030.

1.b.1

Delete all from AMS folder

a. Open bitpim, and connect to the phone using the serial port.

b. in the filesystem u will see a folder called AMS

c. Delete all the contents of the folder.

1.c.1

Open R-World

a) use the Left navigation key.

or

:P Menu + 7+ 1 on ur LGRD2030

1.d.1 and 1.e

a. Open Bitpim, connect to phone

b. check what do u see inside the AMS folder

this is what I saw ...

Initially the files 00.jad , 00.jar and contentinfo are created

this is what the contentinfo file contains

Reliance Infocomm10.2 MMSClient Jataayu
com.jataayu.mmsclient.MMSClient
MMSClient
com.reliance.eda.EDAMIDlet

A quick Dassembly of the jar classes will reveal that a Listener (event listner) is downloaded (btw hey ... this part is a bit techie... not possible to explain any easier)

What all are called in for...
Lcom/reliance/mp/comm/RAPRequest;Lcom/reliance/mp/comm/RAPResponse;
Lcom/reliance/corevm/DownloadListener;
Lcom/reliance/corevm/JadHandler;

after this a function in the midlet called as getFreeSpace (to find the free space on the phone) is run, which returns the size in Integer.
if space returned is sufficient (dont know how much... or if it is dependent on the midlet size)
Lcom/reliance/media/Player; < -is called

if the user is not allowed to access R-World then "Dear Customer, Your current Plan subscription does not allow you access to this service. For information on Plans and Plan upgrades, Please contact 30333333 at the R World section to get access to exciting R World Services." is shown by the EDAMIDlet class.

and a trigger to send SMS reliance.activation.sms is called.

this is the stucture

reliance.activation.sms.originatingNumber
!reliance.activation.sms.automatic
reliance.activation.sms.args(reliance.activation.sms.requestedVersion
reliance.billing.headers reliance.application.title reliance.activation.sms.originatingNumber
!reliance.activation.sms.automatic
reliance.activation.sms.args (reliance.activation.sms.requestedVersion
reliance.billing.headers
reliance.application.title

1.f .... SO NOW U READ THIS!!!

Cheers

Ashok

PS : So u can clearly see that Reliance Handset gets the R-World info from a closed server... which means u need to either use the handset to browse, or u can try with an emulator on ur PC

Btw ... for the uninitiated .. an emulator is a small software to Simulate a different environment (generally on a PC).

and u will have to use R-Connect to fall (presumably) under the same subnet.
