abhay 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 BANGALORE: At a time when IIMs want to cut down their dependence on government IIM- B will be headed by none less than Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh D Ambani. The HRD ministry has cleared the appointment of the 49-year-old Telecom Man of India as the next chairman of IIM-B. Mukesh is said to be the youngest chairman of all IIMs in India. He will succeed Castrol India CMD SM Dutta to the position. “Early this month, HRD minister Arjun Singh expressed his wish to Ambani, to take over as chairman of IIM-B and the latter responded positively,” sources said. For IIM-B, HRD ministry’s decision is indeed historic for it will strive harder to reach numero uno position. At present, IIM-Ahmedabad — with NR Narayana Murthy as its chairman — is regarded the best B-school in the country and has been holding the flag for several years now. The board of governors at IIMs comprise institute representatives nominated by HRD ministry and chief secretary of the state. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1241265.cms
