ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted September 26, 2005 Hi guys .... at last I guess it is time to delve out one of the creations I was working out on, and... guess I will try to be as elaborate as possible. Most of the handsets on CDMA / TDMA bases DO SUPPORT transmission of information over channeled binary, - encoded in various formats, the SCKL codes supported by most Nokia phones is just this.... but hey the story just begins there .... I just got a report saying that it works on my sweet little RD 2030, this gave me a shock, and decided to investigate ... have a look at this This is a compiled image covering the CDMA phones (which they claim are supported... and what got me interested) to see the whole list ... try this out ..... SCKL Support on phones Now that I was interested, I decided to check out some old post that was on rimweb by rohitrocker Rohit's post, which went redundant from the time messaging from the net stopped ( i mean from irisme.net). I just decided to code something to allow sending of SCKL codes from my LG Handset... and as u might remember, my last tech post was that of breaking the sms limit barrier.... Break the SMS Limit Barrier, where I mentioned the format of an SMS in LG RD2030 and some mods to it. well I just used the same old play here .... here I am attaching the first ringtone that is on Rohit's post, all ready to be sent. Zip file of a sample Ringtone Procedure 1. Extract the zip, connect ur RD2030, and read the file system using bitpim. 2. Overwrite the file outbox11 in SMS folder with this one ... 3. Open the Sent folder, and open the ringtone... send to any Nokia handset (tested on 2112 / 2280) if u want me to send it to u so that u can test it ... just PM me! DO CHECK THIS THREAD OVER TIME ... coz an SMS Encoder is coming up here ... (I need some help with using FSO in VB, if there are VB coders around, please gimme a sample code to write a line of "ASCII-UNICODE" text to a file) The real challenge, now that some site has confirmed that LG handsets also support SCKL / some such format (and since we have handsets like 2130/ 2330 which claim to have SMS Ringtones) so if anyone can order a SMS ringtone from someplace ( and give a copy of the file received ... read thro bitpim, before opening the file in the mobile... I mean after u receive the SMS - DO NOT open the trigger, just copy the file thro bitpim, to ur comp first, then u can open it in ur mobile) and show us how it looks like , maybe one of us might get another Ringtones / Wallpapers thro SMS ready! but till then Nokia owners rejoice... u can send me SCKL Ringtones/Wallpapers/Op Logo etc .. that u want on ur mobile ... and it will soon be there... ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted September 26, 2005 Sure mate ... all u need to do is request for a ringtone from an SMS service. once u get the ringtone, read the SMS folder back it up, and send me the zip ... I guess that should do ... Cheers Ashok
ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 (edited) Here is the first preview of my next baby in the making .... The SMS Communicator! I have already sent some request to Roger Binns, the brain behind the hugely sucessful bitpim which we all use, to actually get a fair idea if some more thingies can be implemented. The newer version of Bitpim actually allows to view and store SMS also. Please check out http://www.bitpim.org for details. Here... I am attaching a few screenshots of my current project! Wanna test its potential? well imagine u want to SMS an URL or a house address to someone, it is quite tough to type all that // and # $ etc thro the mobile keypad.... welcome to the SMS Communicator where u compose the message on the keyboard of ur comp, and upload the message to mobile. Check these screenshots out PS : Guys who have an RD2030, unlimited SMS to RIM plan, and a datacable (of course bipim) try to replace outbox11 and outbox00 with this file's contents Cheers Ashok Edited September 27, 2005 by ashoksoft

If u are intrested I can release a test beta version.... but since I am no longer using a LG RD2030 the current developments on this have been halted! Currently I am fiddling on a telson and a Nokia 6255... Ashishbabu : I have to search around for that ... anyways I will upload the half complete application sometime soon ...
