RajanPERT 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 All entry level handsets seem to be of the category of Rs. 500-1000. This same strategy was used by RIM in a very effective manner during its launch! So, keeping ur mobile live for incoming for 2 yrs at a cost of 2000 is quite a good marketing gimmik! And moreover, all those who rave that TATA gives 100% talktime on its prepaid, can please check up its tariffs as well. @Chirag! First the starting handset in this scheme is 2500 Rs. not 2000. Second i thought it may be 500 or 1000 category system. But what u thought about its cost to an individual customer. About its tarrif, please provide ur thoughts so we can understand it more clearly. As i think nothing is wrong with its tarrif plan. Every company is trying to capture the maximum market. specially, local market, where customer know one thing, i.e. call and somewhat SMS only. Ans after all, every company is trying to achieve profit and also we. Thanks and Take Care!

Chirag 5 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Second i thought it may be 500 or 1000 category system. But what u thought about its cost to an individual customer.About its tarrif, please provide ur thoughts so we can understand it more clearly. As i think nothing is wrong with its tarrif plan. 44521 What i meant is that TATA is using the same old trick that RIM used ages back by procuring Cheap handsets from manufacturers and selling them in the range of 2500-5000. Its a simple marketing game plan! nothing else.Obviously the tariffs wud look good initially, coz they were the first to offer... Slowly all operators wud line up in the same queue, jus as we saw everybody following RIM. So hold ur breath. TATA is still no where close to RIM when Network comes into play in all the circles put together... If calling TATA to TATA is what they want to portray, how many TATA mobile frenz wud u have, compared to RIM or other operators. I believe, its a good re-start for TATA to get a holding in the market. Lets wait n watch wat other operators do in a month or so, before jumping in for TATA. As far as handsets go, GSM still outweighs CDMA. CDMA operators need to release the handset monopoly to really get the growth in their subscriber base! RajanPERT 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 @Chirag! I will support your last point "As far as handsets go, GSM still outweighs CDMA. CDMA operators need to release the handset monopoly to really get the growth in their subscriber base!". For other points, i will have to say only one thing, i have only 3 frenz whcih have TATA and five frenz, have Reliance, but my great static of frenz have GSM mobile. If i call to him through my reliance phone, i will be cost 1.80 per min. Where TATA apply only 1 Rs. (0123plan) in this case. You are right TATA doesn't have a greater network as compare to other CDMA or GSM operator, and also doesn't have internet service like reliance. They are taking rs. 0.40 per min internet charges(day and night). But as a simple customer i will prefer TATA. Regarding ur theme, that this is a scheme which will be change in some time. U r right, but it is a style of marketting, and every diwali we see many great offer (something like this) from different companies of different fields. We will change our mind every diwali and change to different companies according their offer, as we know one thing all companies are work in one direction i.e. profit and more customer base. After all we are indian customer!!!!! Thanks and Take Care!
amitbt22 2 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 But if Bsnl Supply sim adequately & regularly It is Best & cheap & Now a days great network
SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 (edited) Within the non-stop mobile offer .... tata seems to be providing free tata-2-tata, BUT only in few circles. What circles are these? Is Delhi included? I mean .. Tata-2-Tata free WITHOUT ANY RECHARGE (... not the 0123 plan) + the usual free incoming from ANY OPERATOR's PHONE. (i.e. both incoming and Tata-2-Tata free for all two years for 2500 bucks, one time payment) Edited October 21, 2005 by bhutes
abc123 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 Yeah BSNL is good for network............................But only to show signal strength on handset............ when some one calls u most of the time he gets either "No. u r trying to call is not reachable." Thsi is the worst problem with the bsnl. Its tough to get the calls through at first instance.....................
Utsav 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 There press release states that Indicom Star is available on non-stop mobile offer.... thought the handset listing does not mention that.I'd trust the press release, more than the handset listinng ... .they probably forgot to update the pop-up for Indicom Star on the handset page. 44477 Is it available ONLY with Non-Stop Mobile offer? There are somany handsets available with TATA but some of them (which I've listed) are available only with NSM offer!
SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 ok.. great. My doubts go further than that .... Can the Nokia handsets (listed among handsets on Tata Indicom site) be purchased with the Non-stip mobile offer? (These sets may not be exclusively for Non-stop offer)
amitstg 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 AS i already told and again confirmed with the same dealer u will surely get a voucher worth rs 180 within 20 days (he was assured by distributor) to make old handset non stop for 2 yrs)
Harshad 1 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 But if Bsnl Supply sim adequately & regularly It is Best & cheap & Now a days great network 44552 So less SIM cards in the market, yet so many problems. Imagine the condition when it offers more SIMs. I took a MTNL trump for roaming into Maharashtra BSNL. Incoming calls were getting blocked, outgoing calls were going grr grrr and only sms was activated. I agree with you on one point - its CHEAP ! (the backward way )
RajanPERT 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 @Bhutes! The only the four Handset as described above has this feature. No news or confirmation about other handsets Like Nokia. @Amitstg! You are right! But it will take time. TATA are planning to launch this type-incoming voucher but time and rate is not confirmed till now. As u saying about 180 vouchers, there is no more information regarding this. Now more interesting news about TATA! As already discussed by the Bhutes. Its right u can use incoming and TATA to TATA outgoing free till two years. But it can happen by the help of a trick. Just purchase any free incoming scheme handset and recharge it with a Rs. 180 or 360 (0123 Talk More) recharge voucher and just enjoy the full talk time and TATA to TATA free conversation till Two Years but u have to maintain some amount in your account. Enjoy NON-STOP MOBILE. Thanks and Take Care! PS: Today, I get some interesting information from some one. There is a problem in some handsets of prepaid Walky in Agra region. It may be possible in other area. When you do any outgoing call to any TATA or Reliance mobile, No charge deducted for the Intra Circle call. It may be some programming error, till than enjoy this benefit. I don’t have any confirmation till now. Amit, Do u have any info regarding this in your area? ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 I got a real kewl deal from my office today, I was thinking of taking a tata connection, when a collegue told me about a 299 offer on postpaid which was EXCLUSIVE for the employees of Hutch group, from Orange. In this offer, i 299/pm to orange, and i get Rs.299 talk time, Orange to Orange at 20 Ps, and any other mobile at 40 ps/ pm. Sms anywhere is 50 ps/pm... I have JUST JUMPED for the offer!!! and since I have a DDM to pay 300/pm to orange from my salary... no more recharges for me !! PS : I was actually thinking of taking tata but there seems to be issues, coz of which the scheme might be withdrawn prematurely! Cheers Ashok
SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2005 And my problem ... is somewhat different. If I spend Rs. 2500 on TATA, my monthly spend is about 2500/24 = about Rs. 100/- With reliance it's already Rs. 150/- per month. (So, means Rs. 3600 in 2 years). Purchase of talktime on either in future, would depend on my needs ... and though tata looks cheap now ... I believe that in the long run Tata and Reliance would come to the same thing. But all I am hesitant about is upfront money payment for TATA. Paying Rs. 100/- every month would have been differnt ... than 2500 upfront. I fancy someone to take my LG 5130 for free, but buy me a Tata set in return (for free to me).
mailgujarat 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2005 Tata has new 4 handset... but i m sorry to say they are worst phones i have ever seennn 2 are chinese and dont support ringtones / wallpapers and kyocera Prisma has a very very low ringtone... so i dont find this offer intresting....
SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2005 (edited) Oh really ! never knew. btw.. which two are chinese? I bet Indicom Ace is ! ? EDIT: Also, I think tata should anyone to allow anyone to buy any tata-enabled handset from the market (incl. nokia etc.) ... lest it sure give a feeling that it's a 1000 or 1500 bucks handset .... the remaining 1000 or 1500 bucks is the "charge" for the "free" incoming ! Edited October 22, 2005 by bhutes
Harshad 1 Report post Posted October 22, 2005 (edited) Fact is that since these handsets come with 2 yrs validity u wont need recharge vouchers i suppose... mere top-up cards will do the need full. If u really hv low outgoing calls then top up with for example 100bucks and use it 4 2 yrs.Gr8 offer. 44485 Dude ! If you purchase a top up card for Indicom and plan to use it the whole 2 years for outgoing, its just NOT possible. I brought home one of their leaflets today & went through the terms & conditions. It clearly states that - incoming would be free for 2 years. For outgoing, one will have to purchase recharge vouchers. However, the vouchers will be bound by their respective validities also. Say, i plan to topup my card with Rs.50 voucher and plan to get 45 rs in return, this would be valid for just ONE day. I cant use it for whole 2 years. If I buy a 330RCV with 200rs talktime, then my outgoing will be valid for a month - not a day after that....... So, the topup thing really doesnt work for a whole 2 years. Thats the problem Edited October 22, 2005 by Chirag
SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2005 Thats' bad ... It implies one needs to keep the incoming phone, and keep a Rs. 50/- voucher ready all the time .... so that in case a need for emergency outgoing call requirement.... u can recharge and make the call. I wish they had Rs. 10/- top up vouchers as well !

mailgujarat 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 Chinese hand sets are Indicom Ace Rs. 2500/- Indicom Star Rs. 4000/- Even Kyocera is Chinese made ... Rs. 3250/- this hand set has poor ringtone volume... Samsung is nice but its b/w and dosnt support Ringtones.... for Rs. 3000/- Nokia 2112 is for Rs. 4000/- ...i dont find it intersting.. also this is sim based but the comany is playing Fool. they dosnt give sim card loose. its a bundled offer.. it it was available loose then we can purchase handset from Bombay Nokia 2112 for Rs. 2200 and Sim Worth Rs. 999/- so total is Rs. 3200/- this is afforadable price
SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 My original tilt towards Tata was really based on the assumption that the handsets are of standard quality, and the prices of the hansets are standard market prices (no hidden mark-up for offering the free incoming). Looking at the prices and the handsets ... (which I came to know only too late) ... it seems to me that Tata in adding-in a charge for the incoming into the handset price. So, the "free incoming" thing is fake. If Tata is really serious it should be offering Rs. 2000/- handsets from LG (like reliance is currently offering) .... and all Nokia should be purchasable at fair market price. After all the analysis ... Tata still seems to be still some way off from Reliance. (And the bad thing is that they seem to resorting to "cheating" ... hidden costs and all)
