Internet Via Powerlines Round The Corner

Recommended Posts

I am **** lazy to google out "internet over power lines" .... it's so much simpler to "imagine" how data could be transferred over POWER LINES !!!

Just wonder what would be the physics behind it !

Copper cables (telephones) make sense ... electric pulses carry the modulated signal. (the carrier could be the frequency or amplitude of the pulse ... or well maybe other characteristics used for encoding the signal)

Optic fibers also make sense ... encoding the signal into frequency, amplitude etc. of light waves and sending them across.

POWER LINES: !!! WTF. Something carrying electricity at 110,000 volts.

How the F*KK is it going to carry a signal with it !

Even a power line carrying 220 volts is going to be strange.

Probably one would need to pass the incoming electricity through electronic demodulators ... to extract the signal from the electricity .... and then pass on the actual electricity to the household ... to do the real electricity work.

I don't know ... what F*KK will need to be done at power substations of electrical utilities ..... and even further .... the interface of data servers to the key points on the Electricity grid. ----- the sort of mingling of 110, 000 volts coming from the thermal power plants, nuclear plants and hydel plants .... encoding that high voltage electricity with the signal (i.e. data from internet servers).

I again, don't know, how the F*KK are things going to be handled at step-down transformers !!! ---- I don't think signal could be saved and be allowed to move, even after the step-down has taken place.

My god -- this is mind boggling --- how does one handle routing --- or would it work like an ethernet ... everybody gets all the data ... just pick, what's addressed to you.

NOOOOOO... this doesn't work ... can't work.

And WTF for the upload .... there is no electricity moving from the households to the substations.

I bet two hairs of my moustache ... that Internet thru POWER LINES IS NOT FEASIBLE. IT'S SURELY SOME APRIL FOOL CRAAAP.

FOOLS, ALL OF THEM.

I won't say anything to you, redshift .... becoz, I'm immensely thankful to you, for getting me my Hull e-book ... which was very very important for me.

But incidentally, I did go and look up into google, immediately after writing that piece ...

The first article that google pops out .... incidentally .... mentions all the problems .. which I stated.

How signal is to be saved from step-down ... problem of hell-high voltages in the electricity grids etc.

AND, it does not answer the third problem, I mentioned .. the problem of upload using an electricity grid.

It's hardly close to happening in US .... maybe the Indian farmer's next generation will be able to see P*RN movies over broadband, before going to the fields ... not the current generation atleast.

yup, im sure theres hell_a_lot of problems but the concept is NOT an impossible proposition.

infact, i wouldnt want one of these power_net to my pc... i'll admit - im a lil scared.

Oh yeah ... ain't it amazing that I continue to live on earth as a normal person .... without EVER "heard"-ing of multiplexing ?

I honestly think they should try to provide broadband through TELEPATHY. It has potential to provide mobile BROADBAND. No?

bhutes, have you not EVER heard of multiplexing?

What sort of multiplexing? Time Division would be impossible. Frequency Division would also be difficult because the two waves would interfere to form a complex wave form. How would the gadgets accustomed to a nice Sine wave work with that?
