abhay 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2005 (edited) 1) i wanna know whoz the "MAHAN CEO" of mtnl 2) who devices such type of schemes guys heres it "ISP'S NOW A DAYS ARE REDUCING CONNECTIVITY PRICES BUT THERES ONE ISP GOING TOTALLY DIFFERENT WAY" first with TRI-BAND TARRIFS tri-band! lets look @ the schemes price free datadownload speeds a) Rs.500/- 250 MB 256 kbps b) NIL NIL " c) Rs. 399/ 400 MB " many more crappy schemes like this! NOW HERES A NEW ONE I DONT THINK NE1 HAS HEARD ABOUT IT!!!! * The new booking for Internet Plan (A,B,C,D) of Rs.500/- & Rs.700/- is closed w.e.f.12.09.2005 * For the existing plans, charges are enhanced from Rs.500/- to Rs.1000/- and Rs.700/- to Rs.1400/- w.e.f.01.11.2005 DETAILS :- ITS A UNLIMITED DIAL-UP SERVICE!!! imagine paying RS 1400 for a dialup connection have we come back to 90's ?? i dont think after launching these kind of schemes MTNL is gonna survive in the compitative market where ISP'S are providing 256 k unlimted connection for as low as 600/montth Edited October 11, 2005 by abhay
ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Very well said Abhay .... but they offer triband using an ADSL modem, and speeds sure are competitive. Moreover the phone equipment provided (if u tick for the same on the form) can act as an incoming call device / VoIP Mic/Speaker at any time (even when u are connected) but yes ... the schemes sure need to be re-worked to get more consumers to change ISP's. raccoon 53 Report post Posted October 12, 2005 Amazing tariffs! I guess BSNL Pune seems way better than a company that can allow this kind of info to be put up on their offical website! And thats no compliment! Also, they dont seem to be at all keen in reducing tariffs of their 499 plan (dedicated internet access ph. line) or the Netone tariff of 10p / minute. These plans don't seem to make sense anymore, when people elsewhere are getting BB at the same or cheaper rates!

Harshad 1 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 (edited) Ashok, he stays in KANDIVALI EAST. What does he mean by 'Reliance doesnt serve his area' ? Maybe he's talking about Reliance broadnet or something ! Thats pretty strange considering the fact that Broadnet is already finding live connections in DOMBIVLI . Maybe R Connect can help him as a wireless connection ........ Edited October 13, 2005 by spookie
Harshad 1 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 Don't even think of SIFY ! It s**** BIGTIME. I shifted from Sify to RConnect and Reliance's service rocks !

Worst in terms of service, worst in terms of technical support, if you face power cuts anytime ( then thrz no connection available ) n bla bla bla..... Top of it, their customer care is based in Chennai where they can;t even speak proper english and it surely takes time for you to make thm understand ur problem. Coming to problems, SIFY SERVER bangs dead many many times..... Its not at all reliable......... If u need more explanations / reviews, do visit mouthshut.com and surf thru the reviews there. Unless u want to spend much and avail of a pathetic service, i wouldnt suggest u sify in any form - neither dialup nor "broadband" ! The choice is urs. raccoon 53 Report post Posted October 14, 2005 Besides Mouthshut, read about Sify horrors here (Techwhack). Read about other service providers there also ...very intresting how we are being milked... And besides Sify lemme warn you away from Hathway also - I'v just had a VERY bad experience with them. Got them to disconenct the service ...and they aren't refunding my dough (6 months advance)! Somehow India's Internet Service has gone all wrong...
adwait 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2005 I am using using MTNL triband and the speeds are FANTASTIC. I get a speed of 26-27 kb/s regardless of the time of the day. If you want unlimited offers, the night unlimited scheme may interest you. Rs. 590/- for a month. 12-8 unlimited downloads. Day time downloads 500 MB free per month. abhay 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2005 yup but noe choice in my area!! well took a sify connection today! right now im getting 20 kB const lets hope this kinda startup stays well having this kinda speeds first time in my life, but having no public is is the biggest loss in this connection! ps :- can anyone tell me if triband gives a public ip
adwait 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2005 ps :- can anyone tell me if triband gives a public ip 44011 What do you mean by a public IP? Every computer connected to the internet HAS to be assigned a WAN or Public IP.
Arun 795 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 Or was he referring to a static IP address ?
adwait 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 In that case....yes MTNL offers a static IP, but with a charge of 1000/- per annum. Otherwise, you get a dynamic IP.

linuxguy 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 What do you mean by a public IP? Every computer connected to the internet HAS to be assigned a WAN or Public IP. Not true. You can be very well NATed behind a single router and given a private IP
adwait 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 Not true. You can be very well NATed behind a single router and given a private IP 44064 True, but not many big ISPs would use this method to connect their users. For one, maintaining logs would be painfully difficult. Also, as the number of users grows, NAT would become difficult/slow affecting the speed the users get. adwait 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 well ... harware NAT's are okay to maintain... I am behind one !Cheers Ashok 44084 But as the network grows, the NAT would have difficulties right? I mean, in case of an ISP....the NAT can't handle so many users. On a LAN, it fine.....but an ISP is an altogether different issue. Anyway, all the knowledge I have about networking is pretty much theoritical since I am still studying, so who knows......maybe it actually is possible
ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 well my ISP threw me behind the NAT... my lan at home is a normal LAN Cheers Ashok PS : My ISP has spread from Chunna Bhatti to Sion, Koliwada, Antop Hill, wadala and Dadar....
