Reliance WebWorld bags Frost & Sullivan award for Video Conferencing

Navi Mumbai, October 13, 2005, October 13, 2005

Reliance WebWorld on Monday won this year's Frost & Sullivan Market Leadership Award for Video Conferencing services. The award has been given in recognition of Reliance WebWorld's emergence within one year as the single largest player in Indian videoconferencing industry with a whopping 44% market share.

Frost & Sullivan Awards are presented to companies for excellence, diligence, commitment and using innovative business strategies to make their mark in the global market. Criteria used to determine winners are rigorous.

"Video conferencing was always thought to be the elite's preserve. Reliance Infocomm was the first to make it available to masses through its 241 WebWorlds in 105 Indian cities. Today, it is the most effective tool of communication for corporates and individuals alike," Sarup Chowdhary, CEO, Reliance WebWorld.

Given the medium's tremendous interactivity and utility and the positive financial implications, more and more companies are gainfully using Reliance' videoconferencing facilities to conduct their out-of-town businesses including sales and project reviews. Over a dozen companies, many of them multinational, are using it for activities like corporate broadcast, product demos, promotions, corporate training, interviews for recruitment and legal proceedings. A Mumbai-based law firm used videoconferencing to record statements of a client based in Turkey. PR agencies are increasingly using it to discuss new product campaign with clients.

Reliance Infocomm Ltd., an Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises group company, is India's largest private information and communications services provider, with a subscriber base of over 13 million. Reliance Infocomm has established a pan-India, high-capacity, integrated (wireless and wireline), convergent (voice, data and video) digital network, to offer services spanning the entire Infocomm value chain.

The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises group is a member of the Reliance Group founded by Shri Dhirubhai H. Ambani (1932-2002).
