vb86 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 (edited) Ok, since my rd2030 is ruined and repair costs are almost 4k, ive decided to go in for a new gsm connection. After streching my budget ive managed to shortlist the 6681 by nokia. Is there anything any1 would like to inform me about before buying this phone? http://www.nokia.co.in/nokia/0,,71176,00.html The sony ericsson k750i also falls in the same category. But ive decided against it. Edited October 17, 2005 by vb86

tanveer 59 Report post Posted October 19, 2005 Havent seen 750 i but had a short time playing 700i. It was real feel good gadget though i dont think it would be as durable as nokia also i am not very sure about the after sale services of sony.(one of my friends ahd a harrowing time getting those nerds to attend to his phone). that no way absolves the poor customer care from nokia either

My dad uses k508i and though the problem was with our SIM they exchanged the phone twice w/o much trouble and even as far as service they return the phone same day if no major problem and max by next day for some major problem. vb86 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2005 ok, before any of u could reply, i had already purchased the phone. Luckily i knew 2 people who were using the 6681 and k750i. I studied both of them and finally decided to go for the nokia. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I wanted the symbian os instead of the SE menu which doesnt look that customizable in terms of installing apps and softwares.
tanveer 59 Report post Posted October 19, 2005 whats the cost buddy and whats the diff between it and 6680 can you give us a brief review? and its comparisonw ith other common nokia models like say 6600 and 3230
vb86 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 (edited) on the comparison between 6680 & 6681, 6680 has 2 additional features ie. 3g support and a vga camera in the front for video vonferencing. Since mine doesnt support 3g, there was no point in adding a vga camera on the front side. Both have a 1.3 camera at the back. Mine cost 17.2 with bill and the other was much expensive. Dont no the exact price. Extra features: stereo sound digital music player, 262k colour active tft screen, dual voltage rs mmc card, edge, has office softwares which syncs with ms office including excel and powerpoint(its a smartphone), displays the calender schedule on the standby screen for the current day in proper order, has icons on the standby screen, much better loudspeaker, stereo phones provided, has a better browser and mail client, symbian os 8, usb cable provided in the packaging, browser supports pdf, push to talk(absent in 6600), hot swappable memory card slot (can be removed without switching the phone off), manages ZIP file too. In the left corner of the phone there is a tiny transparent circle, which is in fact a sensor measuring the intensity of the rays that fall on the phone. It sends signals to the mobile, which then regulates the intensity of the backlighting of both display and keypad. It also has a camera lens protection cover. ADDED: camera has a flash. phew.... y3k_nik 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 i hve a 6680 and its awesme... u made a gud choice getin 6681.. trust me... the only btr point in the se phone is btr colours in the camera... the audio quality through the nokia headset is awesme... nd the screen is splendid.. and whoever said that its software is unstable is obviously not well informed!! its the latest symbian in the market and nokia has increased the internal memory to 10 mb.. so as long as u have 5 mb internal free.. u r nva going to get ur cell hung up!! oh yeah... use the cover easily... if u slide it to harsh or rouch u will scratch the camera easily.. nd the intensity thing is actually sooo cool... of all the things nokia puts in the cell this is one thing they culdnt afford to miss!!! vb86 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2005 yehh.. i already know about the scratching issue since my friend already warned me about it. Now that some1 already has an almost same phone on the forum, why not tell me where you get your themes, apps and wallpapers....etc..... from.. Also i want some really high quality pics that would make my 262k colour screen stand out when compared with the rgular nokias available.
