Nokia 6255 Vs Motorola Razr V3

Hi Fellas,

This is Ayan from Kolkata. I know that this is kinda silly a topic but u see, I’ve been reading the posts about problems with the Nokia 6255, although the only problems I’ve been facing are- a very low network reception signal with occasional call drops and the glass atop the LCD is kinda loose so dust accumulates behind the glass giving the screen a dirty look.

So I’ve decided better to be safe than sorry I'm going to get rid of this handset, get rid of my Reliance connection (sadly enough... ...kinda got used to it) and move on to a Motorola RAZR V3 with a GSM connection.

Now the big question is...IS IT WORTH IT? Is RAZR V3 that great a set? I’ve had no prior experience with it except images and reviews from the net. I hugely prefer the clamshell design and a price tag below 20k.

So I was wondering perhaps some of u guys could help me with this. Any help, absolutely any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

As far as looks go Razr is a great turn on............... but if u look at other aspects including cost of repair in the event of damage... look for a DEEP pit in ur pocket!

For a 20k pricetag I'd expect a Smart Phone. No less.

The Razor isnt.

It is sleek and made of titanium or something like that.

But well not a smart phone. Therefore not productive for that price tag.

If looks and clamshell are the only criteria, razr wins hands down. If you are looking for features, I think there are much much better phones at a better price.

I definetly agree with u Or we r having buggy pieces (Nokia 6255).Since all other Nokia r better in same place (i.e. My home )

Nokia 6255 is a very good phone on comparison with is price. If ur budget is 20k for another phone why go for Moto Razr, go for any other Nokia models i that same price range. U will get the same features or even more in Nokia for a much lesser price.

Based on the look of the Phone then u r right Moto Razr wins.

Guys,..Guys, thanks 4 the replies but I'm afraid u misunderstand me!!!

Looks aren't the only thing I'm interested in...of course looks does matter a little,..I mean really now, How many of u go out with Ugly girlfriends?!?

What I mean is looks does matter, but very little...not as much as features do.

I've seen Smart Phones in action. My sister has the Nokia 6600 and to tell u the truth I don't think its' that damn smart. For instance, compared to the 6255, the 6600 is a Symbian 60 series phone but doesn’t even support MP3 files..I mean, what the heck is the Real One player for man, only videos...ridiculous. The Symbian 60 OS is laggy and the only good thing about it is, I think, the support for themes (unlike 6255) and Symbian games, leave that aside, I think 6255 is a far superior phone with a better speaker quality and the support for animated GIF wallpapers.

On the other hand the RAZR V3 brandishes a 176x220 screen compared to 128x160 of the 6255 and the no. of colour is also 262,000 in the RAZR compared to 65,536 of the 6255. Its just like comparing between a Windows 98-800*600-24bit colour desktop with a Windows XP-1024*768-32bit one...and also the RAZR is a quadband phone.

One more interesting fact I came to know about the RAZR is that it has an inbuilt ATI graphics accelerator. Cool, huh.

Nevertheless I'm not trying to patronise the RAZR V3 just trying to say that this phone has impressed the hell outa me...but I haven't yet seen it in action. Have any of u guys had the honours, please do tell.

The 6255 is the second phone I've used till date; my first one was the dreaded LG RD7230...an unadulterated piece of crap. I'd guess our grandfathers used better phones than the RD7230, so I'm trying to do a lot of research before I get my third, hope u guys understand.

Inbuilt graphics accelerator. sounds very interesting. Let me know more about it. By the way Nokia 6255 is not an ugly looking girl friend. ha ha!!!!!

i believe 6600 can add MP3 player in its application. NOt very sure but symbian platform does allow this.

If you need help I can search around and give you links for download.

And yes 6600 does not allow GIF wallpapers, strange but thats the way it is.

And yes comparing two phones which have different features s not just.;

Dude a 6600 is by no stretch of imagination (or the the wallet - its cheaper than a 6255) a smart phone.

A smart phone will have a Symbian, Palm or Windows environment and allow you to run all sorts of apps on it including word, excel, email clients, pdf viewers and browsers.

You maybe able to run some of them on the 6600 but unless you have a better input system you really cant email on it. A smart phone would be something on the level of a Treo or a Samsung i700 or Motorola MXP 2000 etc.

And Dude the two phones are like apples & oranges. You cant compare them. They are in two different price/feature ranges. Compare the Razr with something similar like the Samsung D600 for features. And compare the 6255 with the 6600 for features!

V3 is definitely among the coolest looking phones around, but isnt exceptionally good with features. The biggest block being the limited memory.

You might miss some things that you had in your 6255, like name searching by typing the 1st few letters (esp if you have a huge contact list).

And V3 comes for some 14-15k... doesnt it?
