SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2005 India to beat China in 2 yrs: Mukesh Ambani Press Trust of India Posted online: Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 1107 hours IST Updated: Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 1201 hours IST Bangalore, October 29: Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani today said India will overtake China in GDP growth rate within the next two years. "I believe that over the next two years...2006 or 2007, India will surpass China in terms of its annual GDP growth rate and consistently maintain that", he said in an address on the occasion of the 32nd foundation day of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. This would be a historic moment, he said. "For 15-20 years, we have been talking only about China. I am telling you by the time you enter the real world (professional career), India has absolute potential to surpass China. Not only that, over the next two decades...(India will be ahead of China)". Noting that when he joined Reliance around 25 years back, opportunities for young people were limited, he said: "in 25 years, things have transformed and today, India is becoming one with the world. "You can switch your career paths without a sense of anxiety," he told the students, pointing out that he, a chemical engineer, built infocomm business in the year 2000. "There is excitement in the air", Ambani, who is the chairman of board of governors of IIMB, said. "Unlimited opportunities loom large on the horizon. That does not mean that the path ahead is easy. In fact, it's going to be full of challenges," he cautioned and exhorted the students to continuously renew knowledge and competency, nurture a global mindset and learn to adapt to different social and cultural environments. ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted October 29, 2005 hmm .. damn true... well india sure has the potential, had the beauraucracy not been around. ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted October 29, 2005 lets call it quality rather than the look of the fool... Personal Experience China : My dad had got me a TCL Q550 handset from his recent trip to china, 3 days after the pack was opened here in india... kaboom... my handset stopped working, I sent an e-mail over to TCL in china, and 2 days down they tell me about a representative in Mumbai, and I get a free replacement. India : I buy a phillips DVD player, about a month after purchase, I face some issues with the sound and DVD read capablities... "and well who'z at fault?" was what was asked by phillips guys to me ! They had the nerves to ask me that! Is that not ridiculous ? and till now I am running around for some damn manufacturing defect Is that a fine line ? or a bold black print? now consider this ... can't india change some of this crap? think a little beyond the set params? I think that is precisely what Mukesh meant! Cheers Ashok
linuxguy 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2005 Dont start up on phillips. They have spoilt their name terribly. I had bought a Philips stereo system about 2-3 years ago. The warranty was for 2 years. As expected, at the fag end of 2 years, the player started failing i.e. the CDs wont play, the tapes would get stuck and normal stuff. I called them up like 30 times in the month (literally every day) before they attended my system. When they did, they stuck me with a quotation of 5000 bucks to get it working... I said what the hell? And asked him to do it. He said he will have to place the order for the parts as they didn't have them ready. But there was no further communication from them. I called them up after a month or so and they were still waiting for the parts to arrive. Finally I gave up. They always give empty assuarances. But then after a year or so they call me up to take an AMC with them as my warranty was about to expire(yeah! 1 year late). I was so _angry_ I gave the operator a good piece of my mind in VERY strong words. Yeah, thats India for you. And I hope Mukesh would do something to atleast change Reliance. abhay 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2005 as i said in the other post! every company has its problems we should not let them com in our way and should always progress ahead and as eg i can loads of it airtel which i already mentioned a)reliance b)indiatimes c)philips :- as linuxguy and ashok said many many many many many many more infact all the companies ps :- but no one can beat the scores of our beloved PSU's MTNL & BSNL
SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2005 I know, it easily looks fantasy, as of now, for India to reach upto China. But reliance is surely different. Atleast I would "choose" to put Mukesh Ambain in visionsaries, rather than fools. (See the building up of Infocomm). Though, I agree, it's just my personal opinion. Reliance Life Sciences is planning to set up a manufacturing facility for recombinant proteins and cell therapies in Navi Mumbai, with an estimated investment of Rs 1,500 crore spread over a three-year period. The Reliance Industries’ group company aims to set up dedicated centres for high-end research and manufacturing of speciality therapeutic products. This facility will also venture into contract manufacturing of bulk drugs and secondary research in biotechnology, sources closed to the development told Business Standard. The company would mainly focus on embryonic and haematopoietic stem cells, skin and tissue engineering, plant tissue culture, molecular diagnostics, biofuels and monoclonal antibodies, among others. It would also focus on therapies in the treatment of thalassemia, leukaemia and sickle cell anemia through stem cell research. The Mukesh Ambani-controlled company is also setting up an animal house to conduct regulatory toxicology and preclinical efficacy studies for cell-based therapies.
