Windows Xp Not Detecting My Phone/modem

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody

I have this strange problem. I've LG LSP-340E FWP phone. I was able to connect to the internet till yesterday. But when i started my computer today, and tried to connect, Windows displayed a message "Error 0692: There was a hardware failure in your modem.". I deleted the connection and uninstalled the modem drivers. I tried reintalling from the R Connect CD but it didn't detect my modem at the setup. I don't know what's wrong. I've Red Hat 9 on other partition(dual boot) and it's working fine in that. I don't have a clue why it's happening.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

It shows that modem is detected but u must hav to check whether the modem takes difrent name eg "lg1' & installed on difrent com port but since ur dial up networking uses old modem which is not present It shows hardware failure .so pls chek out the corect modem in use.

I've not changed anything since it was working. Phone is connected to the same COM1 port. Nothing changed.

One thing that I'm suspecting is that some other process may be using the Com port and when i try to dial through it, it finds it busy and displays the error message. I tried to figure out what other process may be using the com port but with no luck.

Solved

I was using R Connect on my Red Hat 9 installation since morning. I just thought let's give it one more try on Win XP and rebooted in XP. I tried to connect and It got connect. I'm clueless as to what was wrong. But now it's working fine. May be some problem with reliance network. But then it should give some other error and not Hardware failure in modem. It was even refusing to dial. Anyways the problem is sorted for now. Don't know for how long it will work?
