Even when the kyocera pda came, it was outdated abroad. Edited November 6, 2005 by vb86
tanveer 59 Report post Posted November 6, 2005 yeah. Isnt reliance sick of introducing these stupid green/yellow backlight handsets? Are they bothered about only the low end customer?
ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted November 6, 2005 I guess reliance is planning to change the caption line from "mere papa ka sapna, sabka maal apna " to "mere papa ka sapna, har chaprasi bole :- reliance mobile apna" Cheers Ashok
linuxguy 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2005 That is a completely sick handset. And why has LG resorted to copying Samsung. I mean they used to copy Samsung a lot but with dignity i.e. change the design a bit. But this phone is a completely copy!

kesav 127 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 (edited) yeah. Isnt reliance sick of introducing these stupid green/yellow backlight handsets? Are they bothered about only the low end customer? 46027 Tanveer, Be patient! currently Reliance wants to capture rural market where mobile penetration is horribly low. Our villagers can never offer to get colour handset for some more years. They may need it just for talking and not for anything else like what we do. Let them enjoy their due. You've to realize that this forum might someday visited by the owners of those so called "stupid" handsets. We've to comment only whether the handset is value for money or not. We should not brand it stupid just for the case we'll never going to buy such handsets. Its in a way a kind of discrimination. You've recently bought 6255 and they've introduced 6235 within short span. Do you expect them to release high end model every month? If so then its greedy from our side. We've to understand Reliance is doing business and not philanthropy. Edited November 26, 2005 by kesav
adwait 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 We've to understand Reliance is doing business and not philanthropy. 48247 What philantrophy boss? It doesn't cost them much to introduce a new handset.....and its not like they are giving them away for free or subsidising them. Whatever it costs to introduce a handset, they recover from the people who buy those handsets.
kesav 127 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 For every new high end handset the've to put so much effort in testing each and every module you use and also each and every menu in the R-World. Since Reliance itself is selling the handsets and since you blast them for each and every tiny mistake you see its not that easy to release a new handset in the market. Its not like GSM handset which you buy and just insert SIM where phone problem is your problem and not service provider's. The effort involved in releasing a high end handset is more than twice as much as effort involved in releasing the b/w handset. They have to analyse whether they could recover the cost before they take the plunge. Volume is very low in high end handset and margin they've keep it high and make sure still it attracts the dudes like us.
SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 Now this is a way-off question from the topic !! .... but I just want to ask it. Why do they need to test R-world apps for each and every handset. If the handset is Java-enabled, shouldn't Java ensure that R-world will work fine? ... and same argument for BREW-enabled handsets. (ie. if the handset is BREW-enabled ... all BREW R-world apps should run fine). No?
adwait 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 Actually.....I would like to know too....Java is supposed to be platform independant, so an application written in Java should look/work the same way on any machine that runs the Java interpreter....
RajanPERT 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 I think there is some techincal difficulty. Because of this, We know approx. every lg handsets is Java enabled. But we don't see all function in all handsets. There much be some technical specification. It may be not a problem with Java. It may be problem with the Browser used by Reliance Jatayu Browser. So they have to check the Jatayu browser with every handsets. @Kesav! i m with u. Kisi ne kaha bhi Hai, Phone hota hai to siruf baat karene ke liye. (As told by some rural man, they used the phone only for talk.) They don't know much about quality of handsets, only know price, and they can invest money if they like the price front and look of the phone. Thanks and Take Care!
SexyGurl 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 I think Jatayu browser is only relevant, when someone is using R-surf. (Otherwise R-world is a pure Java interface ... nothing to do with Jatayu). What I feel is that .. theoretically, all Java-based R-world apps should run on *ALL* java-enabled handsets ... BUT the problem is that some handsets don't offer the specific hardware or operating system level support to certain classes of Java. (eg. an LG 5130 java-app, will have options for choosing specific colors, placing photos, switching on the speaker phone etc. If same application is used for LG 2130 .. there could be a problem, because Java will try to look color-enablers in the operating system interface. It'll find none, because it's not a color enabled handset. And an unpredictrable result .. nasty errors could pop-up). therefore, one may need to code-up the same applications separately for LG 5130 and LG 2130. (or atleast put an if.. then into the same application, to behave according to the handset accessing the application.
