Anil sure is not intrested in the state of Infocomm anymore... that is for sure. Proof :

1. No new / interesting plans (except copying "kabootar se bhi sasta")

2. No High end handsets ... the latest is behold ... and LG Green light emitting beauty (yuck!)

3. Customer care takes 6 days to resolve a complaint with an HCC not working.

4. All handsets being launched are "UNSELLABLE" anywhere else (not even in Uganda, will someone buy some of the handsets launched)

5. Voicemail / Call forwarding / Call Divert etc etc ... stopped for new users.

6. Platinum plans withdrawn for R-Connect. and lotsa complaints from Freedom @ night plan.

7. Call waiting cancelled on all new connections. (and customer care says this is forever)

8. R-World charged (and quite irresonably considering the content).

9. FWP/FWT thrown to single base station (where [unconfirmed sources] tata seems to be offering entire city)

10. 220 vouchers withdrawn.

11. Website not maintained for ages.... (except for some spelling corrections in the Chairman's resume)... seems like the web admin lost the password, arun why dont we lend some space to reliance ?

Cheers

Ashok

dont mind this because as it is it is a landline

its not ment to be taken across the city. @least consider the fact that its wireless and dose not have the problems of wireline phones

this point is not a issue for me @least

Nah. It was only after DAPO was announced that all GSM operators started crapping in their pants. Remember initially it was 10s pulse and 40paise / min to ANY phone and incomming free? ;) It was only after that Orange, BPL, Airtel and others gave free incomming :)

For all you guys who still dont know why DAPO was free heres the low down...

RIM was on WLL. All incoming calls to WLL lines were always FREE. The Ambani's would have liked to charged for it but they were forced to give it for "FREE".

And mobiles were to be free (for incoming calls) from April that year all the same. And RIM delayed and delayed and finally launched in May 2003 (when they actually started operations in December 2002). So really they didnt have much advantage.

In August of 2001, i had recieved a letter from BPL for my connection stating that from 20th August, CPP(Calling Party Pays) would be in place and hence Incoming on cellphones would be free. This was withdrawn, and i guess, BSNL and MTNL, DOT were responsible for the foul cry... coz Landline users would require to pay more... etc etc..

During this time RIM was evolving and setting up. It was all a big game and it still is. All GSM operators almost together decided to wait till one more big player like Reliance enters into the market via WLL route and that would be the best time to shout loudly. Thats wat happened, and RIM entered via WLL in a big way, where being a basic operator it gave away free incoming and dirt cheap outgoing tariffs.

It was time enuf for GSM to cry hard and they got their way for CPP.

Anyways, Network on Wheels seems to be more of an advertisement than of a cell-site... I mean, if there is a network congestion, it cannot be solved without a permanent cell-site. Temporary Cellsites is jus some quick ho-ho advertorial stuff on the roads, according to me!

At last I managed to see one of the COW's (at bandra Reclamation ... parked on the road side...) yeah it is an AD hoarding on wheels rather than a Cell site.

And by the look and feel of it .. it was not designed for any real purpose!

Cheers

Ashok
