abhay 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2005 Nexus between DoT's bureaucrats and pvt operators: ITSAIndian Telecom Services Association (ITSA) has alleged that a nexus is existing between a section of bureaucracy in Department of Telecom and private operators, which is responsible for further deteoriating the already existing telecom crisis in the country. "It is apprehended that a section of bureaucracy in DoT is in collusion with the (private) competitors of these PSUs (MTNL and BSNL) and hence are not serious to resolve the crisis," Indian Telecom Services Association (ITSA) general secretary S C Sharma said. According to ITSA, after the withdrawal of officers of Indian Telecom Services (ITS) from BSNL ad MTNL from 19th October by DoT, the services have been affected badly especially in the states of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Mumbai and Delhi. The management of the companies were equally worried as the delay each day to resolve the impasse was causing huge direct and indirect loss to these PSUs in the present fiercely competitive environment, Sharma said. "It is important to note that BSNL is the only main telecom service provider in rural India having 80 percent of the population," he said, adding that any delay in resolving the crisis would affect services there. ITSA has been drawing Communication and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's attention but there appears to be no action at their level, he said.
