RajanPERT 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2005 Uniform call rates from January one, Maran New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) Communications and Information Technology Minister Dayanidhi Maran today said the OneIndia policy, that would bring in one uniform tariff across the country, would start by January one, 2006. After reworking the present licensing regime, the Telecom Commission which met under the Chairmanship of Communications and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran has said that the decision to start the new initiative, where one single tariff would be utilised uniformly all over the country, would be brought in place by January one. The Commision also took several user friendly decisions that have reduced license fee for players intending to enter the National and Internal long distance arena. However, the government is yet to bring out a mechanism to compensate Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd as ADC cannot be levied if local call tariffs are imposed on intra-circle calls. BSNL, the largest telecom operator fears that the OneIndia plan will severely affect its revenues. ''The OneIndia concept will benefit customers. Our revenues are certainly going to take a hit. We are yet to analyse the impact. We will come out with the numbers after certain studies,'' BSNL chairman and managing director AK Sinha said. http://www.deepikaglobal.com/ENG5_sub.asp?...NG5&subcatcode= Thanks and Take Care!
