Rconnect Error 721: Ppp Peer Not Responding

Recommended Posts

I have a nokia 2112 CDMA pre-paid reliance mobile set and I am tried to connect to the internet through RCONNECT using a DKU-5 cable. The DKU-5 cable is a cheaper one, not the original nokia one, and it installs a driver called Kingsun USB. The modem is being detected using the query modem option, but when I try to connect, after few minutes the message 0721:REMOTE PPP PEER IS NOT RESPONDING appears. I have tried it with XP, 2000 professional and 2000 server but the problem persists.

Please help me find out the problem and the solution.

Kindly update me whether the error 721 : Remote PPP peer is not responding is an error from the user side or the ISP(Reliance) side.

it has occured to me, once when the problem was from ISP only, and again when i had problem in my data cable. So if it is temporarily u r getting the message, it may be from the ISP otherwise on continously getting this message will be problem in cable or driver.

ERROR 721

A PPP conversation was attempted, but the remote computer did not respond. This error occurs when the server does not support PPP, such as a Windows NT 3.51 or earlier remote access server, or a SLIP server.

This error may also occur if the server requires logging on by using a terminal window before starting PPP. If using a terminal window to log on solves the problem, you can automate the process for future connections.

This error can also indicate faulty hardware on your computer, or the remote server.

Please register a complain to RCC in this regard. Becuase this problem is also faced by many RIMWEBians in JAN 2005. Here is the Link http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=2708

Also try to do these things, it may helpful to u. Try to download driver and software from NOKIA. U will find all links related to ur handsets here. http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=5112

Try to install NOKIA PC Suit and try to use it, also try DKU 5 cable driver and Modem driver from here.

Also check, in R Connect properties,"Type dial up server i am calling" what options are selected. It must be PPP.

Share ur experience with us. Post at RIMWEB for more help.

Thanks and Take Care!

Thanks Guys for your replies !!

I have installed PC Suite 6.41 for XP but the PC suite is not recognising the mobile set. Is it because the cable DKU-5 is a cheaper one. Shall I get a original DKU-5 cable from Nokia, I found that the cable the reliance guys are providing is exactly the same as the one which I have. My cable is labelled Made in CHINA.

If the cable is a faulty one, then how come XP detects the modem.

Hi all

I have finally discovered that the cable I was using was not an original one and I got an original NOKIA CA-42 cable, and Rconnect is working fine now.

Thanks to all for your suggestions

Luv
