The BEST d/l manager is Flash get.

It has all the features u want:

* Shutdown / Hangup windows when d/l completes.

* Reconnect in case of disconnection.

* Supports d/l from RApidshare and Megaupload but support resume only on Mega Upload but not on Rapidshare.

* And many other general features!

* U can shedule the d/l also!

I'll prefer Flash Get only!

it sounds like idm but does it support resume on megaupload? and download on rapidshare?and autoconnect when net get disconnect due to no signal or any other troubleshoot?

I dont use rapidshare or megaupload. So dont know how it wud or wud not work with them. My cablenet, hardly disconnects. very rarely, that happens, and the dialer quickly redials if it disconnects, so the download doesn't stop, it jus keeps continuing!

Bhai Log.....Freedom @ Night plan really made me INSOMNIAC now. :Equivocado:

Really, I'm losing my health now. :(

No excersie, No Walking while Talking.

Being a Graphic Designer, I have to spend my maximum time on computer. I have to sit long hours and that too in the same position. Due to this, I started having Spondylitis Pain in my neck also. Ram Jaaney aagey kya kya hone wala hai.:( And Biwi bhi ab toh GHOOR GHOOR ke dekhti hai. :devil2::devil:

Now a days, nearly all ISP's are having Night Unlimited Plans. But in my opinion these night unlimited plans takes a toll on our health. I unsubscribed the plan in 2006 but the side effects of the plan are still there. :Decepcionado:

Daaktar Babu....sun rahe ho ? :unsurehelp: Thoda INSOMNIA se related Tips post karo merey bhai. :GirandoOjos:

My ISP BSNL provides unlimited download at night from 2am to 8am. So it is not a foreign conspiracy to lose our health but hatched in the dusty board rooms of desi babus :P For the past many years it had been my programmed routine to wake up like a zombie and download torrents, that is before I found Download Manager.

I am a more of an owl or night watchman now :D and what is worse - I feel tired and sleep during meetings and parties.

Besides there are many scripts that can help you achieve that with task scheduler. I am on 1mbps unlimited now but earlier i used these things to sleep peacefully at night.

Me too. Used to use a batch file to automate downloads (previously queued in download manager) during night. By that process, my usage used to cross 60-70 GB every month. Now with unlimited usage internet, no such planning required any more.

Wah Genius babu wah....aap toh chhaa gaye guru. Apka post toh mai zaroor expect kar raha tha. :)

The link you given of "Running and Living" is really great. Thanks !

Upto last year, I used to walk nearly 4 kilometers daily in the evening while having a glance at sweet chicks. :winko: But now a days I hardly walk. :(

All my time goes sitting in front of computer due to my work. I can't avoid my work, so have to sit compulsarily for long hours, may be 12 hours a day and even on Sundays also.

Beech beech mein kabhi kabhi PRANAYAAM kar leta tha. Ab woh bhi nahi kar pa raha hoon. But as you said we have one body and have to maintain it for lifetime. Agar shareer ne he sath na diya toh zindagi mein aur kuch nahi kar payengey hum.

Apart from the overweight issue from some time, now I'm facing another health related problem from the last one week. Having Spondylitis Pain in my Neck Joint. Last Sunday subah utha toh jabardast pain ho rahi thi. My Doctor prescribed Miofree-A Tablets (Thiocolchicoside & Aceclofenac Tablets) for 5 days. I'm applying Dynapar Gel also.

Abhi thoda better hai. But only 50% relief as of now. Subah uth te he pain rehta hai.

Spondylitis is now my major concern dear Vinay Bhau. Any tips for Spondylitis ? Specially if you can recommend some home remedies etc. then it will be much better. I have to control this right now because its the starting phase.

Now I scare from running because whenever I run or step up or down, I feel a POPPING SOUND in my neck. :( This sound can be heard even when I walk fast. What could be the reason for this my dear Vinay Brother ? Bones ke beech mein GAP kamm ho gaya hai ya anything else ??

So, if I run.....wouldn't it be more dangerous for my spine / neck joints ??? Kahin aapas mein he ragad ragad ke aur gap kamm ho gaya toh mera toh band he baj jayega. :P

If you say Running will not affect on my spondylitis problem then I will start running atleast 3 kilometers from tomorrow onwards. :)

Vinay Bhau, you could be the best consultant for me. Kuch spondylitis per advise karo yaar. :)

I'm really scared now. :Confuso:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

And Vinay Bhau, its good to hear that you got the Display changed of your LCD free of cost from the service centre.

Thanks a lot for your motivational comments and +1 for the same. :)

Bhai Honest Ji, the Pop sound u said is not good and anything provoking it should be avoided,

Spondilitis main cause is due to lack of muscle support to Vertebral Col. usually VC and Muscle both keep head errect but now the taks is more with VC as muscle have gone weak. this i am assuming there may be other reason also.

there are supportive therapy that u nee to take. Physiotherapy shall help a lot. Consult Ortho and Sports medicine both and let them know u r doing both follow it strictly and u shall be all right

No running now is not good for you, u can stand or walk slowly without jerks and have a glaze....

PS: Any one who sit for long hours should take proper care of Hamstrings as they go for toss as they contract with time and ur front of thigh muscle quads elongated so you have a unstable knee and hip......

Tomorrow I will consult the Physiotherapist / Ortho. Lets see what he recommends.

You mean even walking fast can be bad for my neck joints ?

@Honest. Now this will be a very long post but worth reading if you are serious about your health and intend to do a long term management.

There is no permanent cure for spondylitis in Western Medicine OR for that matter in any streams like Ayurveda, Homeopathy etc. The keyword is effective management. Let's see approach of Allopathy and Ayureda,

Allopathy:

1. As an immediate remedy medicines like Pain Killers, Muscle Relaxants, Nerve inflammation Relaxants for few days. Basically treating the OUTCOME of illness NOT the cause of it. Alongwith medicines Antacids are almost given as most of this medicine have a side effect on your digestive system resulting in Acidity.

2. Once the pain is manageable and reduced, changes in Postures, Exercises, Some Physiotherapy sessions.

3. If the pain starts again repeat 1& 2.

4. What causes spondylitis according to Allopathy?

-Genetic Factors.

-Natural ageing process in many with no clear answers.

-Wrong sitting, sliping Postures and unhealthy computer usage.

-Heavy expercises or engagement in particular professions like Atheletes, Weight Lifters, Driving continuously.

5. Does Allopathy believe in suggesting something more than the medicines, exercises, posture management etc.

-Generally NO. But if your Allopath Doctor has a holistic approach and understands other streams, he may suggest something more from the Ayurveda approach alongwith allopathy.

6. Costs. Taking example of metro cities, initial treatment for spondylitis can set you back by,

-First Your Family Doctor. Consulting and 4-5 day medicine. Approx. Rs 500

-X Rays etc. Rs 300

-Then next round will be a sure suggestion to consult a specialist. Initial Consulting Rs 500 to Rs 1,000

-10 Day medicine course by the Specialist. Approx Rs 1,000

-Specialist will more often than not will suggest for physiotherapy sessions generally 15. Cost of Each Approx Rs 200 to 300. Total Approx Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,500.

-Most of the exercises suggested has their roots in ancient science of Yoga.

-So total cost for one round of management Rs 5,300 to Rs 7,300

And such rounds may continue in future because there is no permanent cure and OUTCOME of illness is treated NOT the root cause.

Ayurveda:

1. As an immediate remedy herbal medicines (Source for all medicines is natural plants. Created by the Divine Force.)

2. After the pain is manageable, Yoga Excercises, changes in lifestyle, posture management, changes in food habits.

3. Stress management. It is considered as one of the prime reasons for gastric troubles and generation of "Aama".

3. If the above is strictly followed, chances and no. of times of recurrance are far less as compared to Allopathy.

4. What causes any health problem and spondylitis according to Ayurveda?

Any Health Problem:

-According to ayurveda, the five fundamental elements that make up the universe--space (akasha), air (vayu), fire (agni), water (apu) and earth (prithvi)--also make up the human physiology. How do these elements work within us? Looking at the elements from the point of view of what they do in the physiology, rather than what they are, ayurveda describes three biological humors or psychophysiological energies called doshas. There are three doshas, called Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and each is mainly a combination of two elements. Vata dosha is made up of space and air. Pitta dosha is a combination of fire and water. Kapha dosha is made up of water and earth. Each of these doshas is further divided into five sub-doshas. Together, the doshas orchestrate all the activities that occur within us.

The combination of the three doshas that you inherit at conception is called your prakriti or original constitution in ayurveda. While it is not unheard of for people to have nearly equal proportions of the three doshas or just one very predominant dosha as their prakriti, most people have two doshas that are more or less equally dominant, with the remaining one less dominant.

For good health and well-being to be maintained, the three doshas within you need to be in balance. That does not mean they need to be equal, unless you were born with equal doshas; it means that you need to maintain your original doshic make-up or prakriti through life as much as possible to maintain good health. Unfortunately, factors such as the dietary choices you make, the lifestyle you lead, the climate where you live, levels of environmental pollution, the work you do, the nature of your relationships with people and even just the passage of time can cause one of more of the doshas in your prakriti to increase or decrease from its original level in your constitution, creating vikriti or imbalance. If this imbalance is not corrected, you eventually lose your good health. That's why restoring balance is the central theme of the ayurvedic approach to health.

spondylitis:

-Most of the reasons given in Allopathy apply.

-With growing age, the discs of your spine become drier and less elastic.

-This pains are due to formation of toxins within the intestines. These toxins are known as "Aama" in Ayurveda.

-When too much "Aama" accumulates within the body, it aggrevates "Vata" and causes its imbalance.

-"Aama" circulates around the body untill it settles in weak spots more often in the joint areas.

-"Vata" is made up of two elements space and air. Vata Dosha governs all movements in your physical body from a fleeting thought in your mind to flowing of blood through your arteries and veins.

Further there are 5 Subdoshas of "Vata".

Prana Vata- Functions in the head-neck-chest region.Thinking and creativity, learning new information and inhalation.

Udana Vata- Functions in throat and chest region. Singing, sneezing and exhalation.

Vyana Vata- From heart to all over the body through circulatory system. Beating of heart, sweating and sense of touch.

Samana Vata- Stomach area. Controls flow of food through the digestive track.

Apana Vata- Colon and Pelvic area. Controls menstruation and elimination of waste.

5. Costs:

-First Visit Consulting Fee to a Good, Genuine Ayurveda Practioner Approx Rs 100 to Rs 300

-X Rays Rs. 300

-15 day medicine cost Approx. Rs 500

-Cost of exercises etc. Free if self implemented. Approx Rs 1,000 to Consult a Yogasana Practioner.

-Cost of Pranayam. Free. Only self will needed.

-Total Cost for one round of management Rs 900 to Rs 2,100

I do not mean to lessen the importance of Allopathy by the above analysis. It has its place. If you get a heart attack suddenly, there is no first line of defence in Ayurveda. Allopathy will save you. But for 99% of health problems Ayurveda is superior, cost effective, holistic compared to Allopathy. And i am saying all of the above based on personal experience. Have a deep exposure to Ayurveda and experienced its strengths.

Not suggesting any ayurvedic medicines as it is best for the Practioner to decide after analysing your "Prakriti".

Thanks a ton my dear Rajan for the detailed explanation. +1 :)

Yes, it is 100% correct, that for immediate relief Allopathy is best but for the long lasting effects nothing can beat Ayurveda. Simple excercise could do wonder.

Tomorrow I will consult the physiotherapist and will do the excercise as he recommends.

I eat Garlic on regular basis and consume Lemon Juice with Honey every morning. In all, I love natural treatments instead of Allopathy. But its a starting stage of Spondylitis, so I don't want to take any chance and initially will continue Allopathy alongwith the home remedies.

Climate too now a days is cold here. Agar bhagwan ne chaaha toh jald he sab theek ho jaega. :)

I have to visit Jaipur and Delhi in the coming week. Pataa nahi jaa paunga bhi ya nahi is dard ke chakkar mein. :(

Lets hope for the best.

And all my dear friends, please take care of your health. Otherwise you could also be the NEXT VICTIM of different problems like INSOMNIA, SPONDYLISIS, etc. :)

I already learnt the lesson. Now I will take care of myself and my body the most. :)

Preventing back and neck pain whilst sitting is not an exact science, as there are always new ideas and differing opinions. There are various recommendations as to the ideal distance between your eyes and the monitor, or the perfect angle for your elbows and knees. Depending on which study you read, you will be given different recommendations.

When it comes to prevention, there are some common denominators on which most experts agree:

  • take regular breaks,
  • prevent your back and neck from stiffening,
  • sit in a good adjustable chair that provides lumbar support,
  • your feet should be on the floor or a footrest,
  • your desk should be large enough to allow your forearms to rest on it when using the keyboard,
  • be certain that your keyboard and monitor are at a comfortable height,
  • and avoid glare from the screen.

Whilst you are sitting using a PC there are a number of things you can do you prevent back and neck problems. If, for example, your neck and shoulder on the side that you use the mouse gets sore, it's probably due the position of your arm when you use the mouse. When muscles become fatigued, they ache.

back_neck_4.jpg

A good stretching exercise for these neck and shoulder muscles is shown here. This should be done intermittently throughout the day to help prevent those muscles from aching.

back_neck_5.jpg

If you get soreness across the base of your neck and across your shoulder blades, it is likely that you start to slump forwards as the day goes on. Tiredness and poor posture causes your pelvis to tilt backward, your lower back flattens, and your head comes forward, in other words you become 'C' shaped, or sit in a 'slumped' position.

This 'poking chin' posture creates a lever system in the neck, with the pivot point of the lever being the base of the neck, in this 'poking chin' position the force through the neck is multiplied 3 x, and so your neck and shoulder muscles have to work 3 x harder to hold your head up.

The average weight of an adult head weighs between 8-12lb, so 12lbs of force need to be generated by the neck and shoulder muscles to hold your head up. If your head falls forward as described, the muscles now need to generate 36lbs of force to hold your head up. After a period of time, this amount of force generation will cause fatigue and pain.

back_neck_2.jpg

To prevent this from occurring, move your chair in close to the PC to avoid over reaching, sit back in your chair properly. This will prevent your pelvis from tilting backwards as the backrest opposes it. If your feet cannot reach the floor comfortably, either lower your chair or use a foot rest.

Another very good neck exercise to stretch is neck 'retraction' or the chin tuck. This is performed by looking straight ahead and pulling your head straight back in, like trying to give yourself a double chin. This stretches the muscles at the base and back of the neck and opens and lubricates the neck joints. This is a particularly good stretch to do throughout the day. If this exercise causes pain discontinue it and consult a physiotherapist.

back_neck_3.jpg

If sitting for too long causes back pain or soreness, it may be due to the forces that occur in the spine. When you sit in the 'slumped' position as described above, the normal curve of the spine is lost and the lower spine straightens. In so doing, the force distribution is lost. For example, when sitting in the 'slumped' position there is approximately 1.5 times the amount of compressive force through your spine than in standing. This increased force may, over a period of time, fatigue the spinal muscles and cause pain, or may lead to early degenerative changes.

back_neck_1.gif

When you sit, it is best to sit in an upright neutral posture as shown in the diagram. This maintains the natural curve of the spine and so preventing excessive loading of the lower back.

To prevent stiffness of the lower spine in sitting, you can gently rock the pelvis forwards and backwards - sit upright and then slowly allow the pelvis to drop backwards, and then slowly sit upright again. Then can be done whilst sitting, but you must move away from the chair backrest to allow you to drop your pelvis backwards.

back_neck_6.jpg

It is also beneficial to stand frequently (every hour say) to 're-set' the spinal tension that has built up over the last hour of sitting, and to allow the spine to regain it's normal curvature. Gentle extension exercises may help the spine to regain its normal curve.

My unhealthy Seating posture is the culprit in my case. I already started to have precautions while sitting for long hours.

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

My dear friends and doctor babu, below is my x-ray report :

X-RAY of CERVICAL SPINE AP / LAT

• The cervical spine reveals normal cervical lordosis.

• Vertibral bodies & appendages appear normal.

• The intervertebral disc spaces are well maintained.

• The prevertebral soft tissue space reveal no abnormality.

• No ossified cervical rib is seen.

• Bone density appears normal.

Radio-Diagnostic : NO SIGNIFICANT BONY ABNORMALITY DETECTED.

I'm feeling relief now after seeing the x-ray report. Sab kuch normal hai. Only muscular pains.

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Thank God, that there's no cervical spondylitis detected.

But now I will be much more careful and take care of my body / health. Jaan hai toh jahaan hai. Doctor babu ne bola hai, ke ek shareer hai jise humne 100 saal tak ragadna hai. :)

Thanks to everyone for your support. :)
