abhay 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 (edited) Tata Indicom ' Walky' receives Best Service Award In Emerging Markets at World Communication Awards In a major landmark achievement, Tata Indicom - 'Walky' has received the 'Best Service in Emerging Markets Award 'at the World Communication Awards, which was held recently in Londan . The World Communication Award is the most prestigious body, which recognizes outstanding achievement among telecom service providers at a global, regional and national level. The World Communication Awards is widely acknowledged as the most trusted event of its kind in the global communications industry. In choosing Tata Indicom 'Walky' as the ' Best Service in Emerging Markets',a panel of independent judges considered traditional values such as quality of service, reliability and customer service, as well as the strength of service portfolio, technological innovation, evidence of strong and disciplined management, strategic direction and future scope for development of the company. Accompanying this award , is the added achievement of Tata Indicom becoming the largest and the first wireless service provider with over 3 million Fixed Wireless customers. The Tata Indicom - ' Walky', Fixed Wireless Service, has all the 'intelligent' features of a mobile phone like SMS, caller ID, missed call notification, off hook reception, address book and high speed Internet capability. Operating on Tata Indicom CDMA network, 'Walky' Fixed Wireless Service is available across twenty circles. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Harish Bhat - President - Marketing, Tata Teleservices said, "We are very pleased to announce that our 'Walky' has been awarded the 'Best Service in Emerging Markets at the World Communication Awards. The Award clearly depicts that our Fixed Wireless Service is increasingly and rapidly gaining popularity. The market response to this product has been very positive and we see tremendous growth potential in this product category going forward. We are keen to further grow this category and offer a range of feature rich phone instruments to our customers at great value tariffs." Tata Indicom offers 'Walky' Fixed Wireless Service on LG and Axesstel and Sungil instruments. These instruments, combine a backlit display and a stunning design with a whole range of attractive features that include a phonebook capacity, Caller Line Identity, and polyphonic ringtones. The phone can be placed on a flat surface and can also be wall mounted. Today,Tata Indicom customers have a variety of instruments and colours to choose from. A feature-rich fixed telephony product, 'Walky' has immense potential in India. With the launch of 'Walky', Tata Indicom is looking at catering to different segments by offering a host of value-added benefits like Voice Mail, Voice station , SMS and CLIP. In addition, 'Walky' customers can avail the benefits of being wireless at landline rates. Tata Indicom is targeting the emerging smaller markets as well as the replacement markets in larger towns to further increase this leadership position. Tata Indicom was the first to launch CDMA-based Fixed Wireless Service in the country. As the service operates on Tata Indicom CDMA wireless platform,it offers several advantages over the landline, as it does not require any physical wiring for last mile connectivity. Hence customers can expect instant connections (as it eliminates the need for cables to be laid), the ability to retain the same phone number within the city for customers who shift residence/office, better security and all weather proof (unaffected by rains / harsh climatic conditions) service. Around the globe, manufacturers had considered Fixed Wireless Service as a dead product. But after the tremendous success of Tata Indicom Fixed Wireless Service in India, today international vendors are investing money and are taking interest in Research and Development (R&D) on Fixed Wireless Service. http://news.moneycontrol.com/backends/News...p?autono=191088 Now Tata Indicom Wi-Fi Service at Eden GardensKolkata is a city justifiably famous for many things, modernity is however not one of these. Of late that too is changing. So much so if Bangalore is India's IT hub, Kolkata is not very far behind. After VSNL got the Chinnaswamy stadium at Bangalore wi-fi ready, Eden Gardens arguably India's marquee cricket stadium, shortly followed suit. Impressed by the Tata Indicom wi-fi facilities that VSNL provided at Bangalore, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, pulled out all stops to get the same for Eden gardens in super quick time. So, come November 25th, the day India takes on South Africa in the crucial 4th ODI, Eden Gardens will be decked up not just by the die-hard cricket aficionados, but also with blazing Internet speeds using Tata Indicom Wi-Fi. "VSNL has been a pioneer in providing Internet services in the country and we are now exploiting the customer convenience that a technology like Wi-Fi offers. It is a great honour for VSNL to be associated as the Internet services partner with the Cricket Association of Bengal at Eden Gardens, India's best known cricket stadium." said Shashi Kalathil - COO, Broadband & Retail Business, VSNL. The Wi-Fi service will be available at the Eden Gardens press and media centre, hotographer's facilities and VIP areas. CAB's President, and former BCCI chief, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya said, "We have always taken proactive steps in making Eden Gardens the best cricket stadium in the world and bringing Wi-Fi and Internet services into the stadium is yet another initiative to keep the stadium the most contemporary and state-of-the art. I thank VSNL and the Tata Group who have made ready the service within 7 days of having our first discussions." Tata Indicom Wi-Fi Service will eventually roll out 1000 hotspots all over India and is already providing its services at some airports, hotels, stadiums and restaurants. http://news.moneycontrol.com/backends/News...p?autono=191077 now even TATA indicom is coming ahead in the RACE i dont know what has happned to reliance NO news from reliance since past few months Edited November 25, 2005 by abhay

RajanPERT 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 The policy of Tata Indicom is very different than other players. They always launched Walky first and after that they start other services. I mean they always provide complete feed to Walky other than mobile. Thanks and Take Care!
prakritish 1 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 Hi Guys, What ever you do, don't go for Tata. I had a Tata FWP which I got it discinnected, and still have Tata CDMA Mobile. The service is pathetic, and call centre guys are all dumb. I disconnected my CDMA mobile disconnected once, but had to get it reconnected because of the investment I made in buying the CDMA mobile upfront. Both my connections are almost 3 yrs old. For the last 2 mnths Tata has been billing me incorrectly. They adjusted the excess amount in next months bill after complaining, but again this month there is excess billing. I have Do More 399 subscription (which is written in the bill also), but the calculation inside shown are of Get More 399 which has very high call rates. My sincere suggestion, take up GSM phones if you want to, but don't ever fall in the trap of Tata Indicom.
