Rconnect With Lg - Dormancy

Recommended Posts

Now I've been using RConnect with my 7130 for like ages now, but having recently moved into an area with major reliance signal congestion (which of course they would fail to acknowledge or do anything about even after repeated protests but thats a different story...) the dormancy feature on the LG phones (they automatically switch over to a disconnected mode after a (very) brief inactivity period ) is proving to be a major pain, sice the phone fails to reconnect most of the time. Also it introduces irritating delays while using bandwith-light apps like chatting...

so, anyone know how to prevent the phone from going into dormancy, or atleast, increase the time before it goes into that mode?

Does this dormancy thing happen in phones of other manufacturers too? I assume it is to decrease the load on the network or whatever, but still...

plz go through this forum, this topic is well discussed at many places.

Well the solution are many but what i use is simple pinging a website. After u connect to rconnect simple type "ping www.google.com -t" in "run" of "start menu" this will open a window where the site will keep on pinging, let thet window remain open for the entire session"

ugh, I should have searched before posting, my bad :(

heh ping -t is such a crude solution, but it sure does work :P ... I was thinking more in terms of modifying the phone software/settings and was wondering if anyone had stumbled on that... or maybe the dormancy period is determined by the server and not by the phone?

Anyways thanks!

usually i surf for 6+ hours/daily.

keeping the command window that pinging google all the time is somewhat dirty technique for me.

ok. let it be. i would prefer pinging rimweb.in or relianceinfo.com rather than pinging google (for 6+ hours continously)

as said, this is well known problem. why not reliance consider revising the s/w settings for dormancy mode? had they done? nope.

moderators deleting the r-connect thread says people should search the previous posts b4 starting threads about the same topic. it implies me that

the dormancy problem exist from the starting itself. but reliance didnt solve the probem till this date. starting a new thread is unnecessary. I cannot expect that the dormancy problem might be solved at present even when I search & see posts abt the same dormancy. dormancy is the default trouble for r-connect

if it happens continously, no new posts will be made, this forum will be down. only moderators can post topics such as "reliance is very good. thanks reliance" ;)

We are still to see a drop in the number of posts, even when that topic is "already" discussed, and no new posts are made!!

And yeah, do kindly point us to a post where a moderator said "Reliance is very good. Thanks Reliance".
