Most of those things are FANTASTIC at bringing your machine to a crawl!

That's precisely the reason I hate all those cr*p safety softwares.

Norton Anti virus is good .. but look at what that process rtvscan.exe does to the speed of the comp.

Black-ice also reduces speed.

(Off course these are paid , corporate softwares ... but even free ones are bad or maybe worse)

ooh boy,

you want real good security ?

absolutely watertight ?

theres only one solution!

write your own firewall.

That way you can be sure , theres no rogue code in it.

Who knows tomorrow NORTON might launch INTERNET MUTINY !!?

I dont see the point in this discussion, you'r not protected, ur dead.

Simple aint it ?

Of course there is a point in this discussion! Fact is that most popular security apps are resource hogs (tho they are relatively more user friendly). But obviously that does not mean you can do without any security! Question is how to strike a balance between the two ...and its possible. I got a machine which is both well protected & quite fast (In fact never been infected)!

It is possible, but you need to expend some time and energy in the whole thing ...at least initially. Something most lay Windows users do not do/are not able to do...

The most secure way it to ... NOT let internet sh*t enter your system.

Just don't connect to the internet ... and you don't need to write your own firewalls or anything.

As for P*RN one can always fantasise in head ... rather than depend on the virus prone internet.

And the easiest way for such lay users is to upgrade their hardware ! ;)

I asked cracker about the software he used to scan. He didn't replied as he might be too busy hacking 3rd party computer.

However the software is a network scanner available for free download from http://www.softperfect.com/products/networkscanner/

Also there are many scanners at http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/network/fwscanner.html

Enjoy!!!
