@ksh@T 20 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 BSNL reduces pulse rate, bills baffle customers The lowering of pulse rate in landline calls originating from BSNL to Airtel has come in for question by BSNL’s customers... The lowering of pulse rate in landline calls originating from BSNL to Airtel has come in for question by BSNL’s customers. Based on a circular from its headquarters in Delhi, BSNL reportedly reduced the pulse rate from 180 seconds to 45 seconds in early October but did not intimate its customers nor gave the move any publicity. A BSNL customer who contacted Deccan Herald said, “I noticed an increase in my monthly phone bills recently. Upon investigation, I discovered that all my calls to Airtel lines have been charged four times higher.” When contacted, BSNL officers were hard-pressed for an explanation. The issue was more than just a question of not intimating the customers, agreed one of them. As per the rules, the calls originating from BSNL to that of Universal Access Service Providers shall be charged at 45 seconds pulse rate. The UASPs are cellular providers who give limited mobile service. Tata Indicom and Reliance who offer basic services on fixed line wireless also fall in this category. Airtel, which offers its basic service on a regular fixed line, need not be in this category and an explanation is awaited from the BSNL head office, he said. not only rim has this BIMARI of not telling the customers abt ne change....it has other friends too that make them do this
raccoon 53 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 BSNL is the pits in every way! Anyway, that aside, this 45 sec pulse is absurd! That means considering Rs. 1.2 per call, it costs exactly Rs. 1.50 per minute to call a local cell or FWP! And I can do that with my RIM for 80p ....or just 40p if its RIM to RIM/FWP!!! Previously I used to use the landline for outgoing calls and RIM mainly for incoming. Now I'v had to change that! Does BSNL want to kill its landline business? The only advantage in having a BSNL landline is for its Broadband and BSNL landline to landline calls (diminishing)!

BPP 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 Do reliance/TATA pays ADC to BSNL for FWP phones ?
anujit 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 No FWP s are treated like landlines that give service to the poor villagers (there is some term used here but I dont remember it). So ReliancePhone users don't have to pay ADC, whereas RIM users do.
