trrmenon 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 I thought the offer was for life for incoming calls, and 100% for recharge vouchers..... i dont think Reliance could match it !!!! because their 999 offer remains valid till the talktime is available, onceit gets exhausted, the set goes dead, and fresh charge is required to make it live. This was introduced as a talktime offer with a set validity of 3 months or talktime whichever is first. To counter the latest offer by the GSM cos, Reliance will have to bring something new, which is what kalyan_prince is saying.. Lets wait n watch ! Sooner or a little later - thr has to be a new offer from RIM owing to the competition ! H A R S H A D

Ramchi 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 (edited) Reliance and TATA Indicom may not come up with life-time offers. Reliance immediate target is TATA Indicom which is giving only 2-3 years validity. The problem for Reliance or advantage of Reliance over GSM providers is handsets. Once you buy Reliance handset, it is almost like you are singing a life-time agreement with Reliance. Even if you do not continue with Reliance, still Reliance ends up making money or it is not losing money. Only new customers may need to choose between Reliance over GSM providers like Airtel, Idea, Hutch etc... Reliance already started the competition (in its earlier days) with stiff rates; I really do not believe it can do another round of stree-fighting with such life-time offers. But I cannot agree 100%, I'll tell u why ? Its ur prespective what u have said in ur post, But today what a common man will think, No Tension of Recharge very month.....Enjoy life time validity and that too in just 999 Why To cont with reliance or tata ??????? he will sell his mobile phone get a new connection of airtel and some handset...... and shift to AIRTEL...... This way Reliance and TATA may loose customers..... jusmail 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 (edited) Hutch offers lifetime card @ Rs 999 December 26, 2005 14:43 IST Close on the heels of Airtel launching a lifetime prepaid card, Hutch on Monday announced a lifetime validity scheme for its prepaid subscribers at Rs 999. "With the new 'Chalta Rahe' recharge, Hutch prepaid users across the country can now go mobile for life by making a one-time payment of Rs 999," the company said in a statement in New Delhi. Now, lifetime validity plan from Airtel In addition, they will also get full talk time for all subsequent recharges (net of applicable service tax). The Chalta Rahe Prepaid recharge is expected to dramatically increase the affordability of a prepaid mobile connection, it said. This offering is available to existing and new subscribers. Those opting for Chalta Rahe Recharge will pay Rs 1.99/minute for all local calls and Rs 2.99/minute for all STD calls. In addition, this recharge comes with a Rs 25 worth in-built talk time. This recharge, however, cannot be combined with any other promotional offer, the company said. With Chalta Rahe prepaid card, the company said: "Users do not need to buy validity recharges every month and will no longer be required to recharge every month to remain mobile without being worried about losing validity or expiration of their prepaid connection." It will also offer full talk time on all future recharges and customers can subsequently top-up with any amount and get full talk time but customers will need to recharge with the minimum available recharge (currently just Rs 10) at least once in 6 months to stay mobile. Three months ago, Hutch had launched a prepaid recharge card costing just Rs 10. Before Airtel, Tata Teleservices had launched two years' validity on its pre-paid cards. Naveen Chopra, corporate vice president (group marketing) Hutchison Essar, said this innovation will bring a significant change in the mobile industry as we know it. Going mobile will now become significantly more affordable. A reasonable one-time entry cost combined with low denomination, full talk time recharges thereafter will encourage increased adoption of mobile telephone. Hutchison Essar group of companies has over 10.68 million mobile users under the Hutch brands. <TOPIC MERGED!> Edited December 26, 2005 by Vishal Gupta
shashank 8 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 Now tata and reliance should fight back. Most of you think that airtel has done a great thing, but it is not.Because, due to this the subscribers of airtel will increase dramatically and lead to lot of congestion in the network.Do not forget that Airtel is a GSM based network. The congestion will increase to a level at which the subscriber will not be able to make a single call even after 100 tries.Due to this Airtel subscribers will have the mobile only for name sake. But this not the case with TATA & Reliance because they are CDMA networks and i guess you can understan the reason.

Ramchi 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 Kalya_Prince, Here you need to look at one more thing. An existing Reliance customer may think 100 times before selling his mobile for getting Airtel connection. What if Reliance comes up with an attractive offer not necessarily life-time ones? He may not like to purchase another new Reliance handset at that point after spending 1000 bucks plus handst for getting Airtel connection. For TATA Indicom new offer, all Reliance could come up was, airing commercials in Television Channels rediculing TATA Indicom ! This is the best Reliance could do to counter TATA Indicom. Ask Reliance to get out of meddling with handsets, it will clearly demonstrate whether they are ready for open market?
amitbt22 2 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 (edited) Airtel has not a decent network so they introduce such kind of offers.& Hutch hav to follow that.also !dea has joined it atleast in our area with same offer. Ramchi 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 Simply copying Airtel. I am wondering whether Hutch has anything oringinal in its plates? Do not wait till your competitors over take up then follow their path. Come up with something original, Hutch!
FEVIN-RAJ 61 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 I dont think Reliance will offer a Life time validity coz reliance may not be facing a large amount of customer churn due to other operators offer
Ramchi 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 Fevin-Raj, I have said the same thing in another thread 'Airtel's Revolutionary Offer'. This is mostly because Reliance handsets become paper-wieght once an exisiting customer decides against Reliance.
