Use Dot "." In Yahoo! Ids

Recommended Posts

Can someone explain the benefits of making an alias id instead of registering a complete new id altogether?

Would alias be beneficial for Yahoo Messenger?

yes Chirag.. u can chat under different profiles while using Yahoo messenger.. think u can make at max 7 ids.. (under a single session).. logon to one and send messages from all the other 7 profiles..

i used the max when iused to chat like hell some years back.. :( ..

And i didnot know if this feature existed before.. but now with your newProfile@yahoo.com you can get your mail forwarded to your own account..(you can create one such account)

Profile u can have seven (but still profiles cant have "."'s ..dont know what's the trouble)..

For now u can create one extra email address with DOT operator using the link Vishal Provided..

what i am trying to figure out is, with registering a dot email id via Vishal's link will collate my earlier email id with the new one?? How would it work? is it similar to having different profiles?

Or does it make more sense to rather register an altogether new Email id with a 'dot' in it?

You can do either. You can either create an email which you can receive from your present yahoo emaill, ie mails sent to present as well as the '.' one id will be received in same mailbox. You can even send mail from the '.' id, when you are logged in by your present id.

Alternatively, you can create another id, so that you will be able handle 2 independent mail ids.

For me, the first method worked perfectly. I always wanted a . in yahoo address so that it will go with my other ids. now i have it. Thanks to Vishal for pointing this out.

i created my alias ID, it is nice to have an alias ID than to have a separate one, becoz u dont need to switch between ur different inbox, u get a single inbox with two different ID's and these days we know how big our inbox is.

Thnx for the information!! :D

And is there any way by which we can revert our yahoo.co.in email ids to yahoo.com? I dont see any reason why yahoo has kept that kind of differential domain system for region specific!! wat purpose is it solving?

Also we can chat using those different IDs at the same time!

@Chirag

Try to change the location from India to USA, i think it should change the .co.in domain to .com

Would that mean, we could toggle any time, back and forth! I doubt so!

Now Yahoo! allows "." (dot) in E-mail IDs.

So you can have alias to your present IDs or you can create a new ID for yourself.

So register yourself fast :)

Alias to ur existing ID

Great Vishal Thanks a lot its very helpfull. Another question guys, anyway we could get pop access on yahoo.

I think it is not right and for other info, the Yahoo are shifting all yahoo mail's account to US server. So there is no meaning of yahoo.co.in or yahoo.com.

Thanks and Take Care!

There is a third party software called yahoopops It gives you pop access to yahoo mail from outlook or anyother mail client...

Hi,

This seems to be a good news!!

Yahoo mail beta and the original Yahoo mail is now

available with professional looking 'dot' addresses.

Each existing Yahoo address can have another address

as an alternate e-mail ID, which shall share the same

Inbox as the primary ID. This is best, since we can

now have a professional '

address without having

to worry about maintaining another mail account

all-together. Mails sent to or from either mail ID

shall come to the same inbox and you can use either ID

as the sender ID.

Get your new alternate email ID at : Yahoo dot

addresses < http://updates.mail.yahoo.com/blog/2005/12...0%9d-addresses/ >

Log in anywhere on the Yahoo! network (Mail, Photos, Messenger with BT Communicator -- the list goes on and on...)

Hello Ppl,

Is there any way to merge two ids?? This method is about creating a new ID and merging it with an existing one. But what about joining two existing ids?? Is it possible?

Not possible. You have to create new id only.
