My Experience With Cops

The gay police busted

Cops used decoy to accost ‘homosexuals’ in public loos and then harass them

Santosh Andhale

An alert citizen busted an organised racket by Azad Maidan police who allegedly placed gay decoys inside the toilet at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and then accused people visiting the toilet of homosexual acts to extort money

Following the complaint by Sameer Mujawar, 28, who they tried to trap in the toilet on Tuesday night, an inquiry has been set up against two cops.

Mujawar, was accosted inside the CST loo at 11 pm by Sachin Patil, the gay decoy. Patil allegedly began indulging in indecent behaviour with Mujawar, and when an angry Mujawar protested, Patil yelled out very loudly, calling attention of the cops.

The two constables, apparently waiting outside the toilet for precisely such a signal from their conduit, rushed in and asked what the two men were up to.

Patil then "acted" guilty, and when Mujawar told the cops he was trying to sexually abuse him, the constables told the two that they would have to be taken to the police station. Mujawar at this point told them he was a press reporter. The cops then let him go and pretended to take Patil away.

However, sensing something untoward, Mujawar waited at a nearby platform and saw that the constables along with Patil were similarly trapping many others and letting them go after extorting money from them.

After a while, he saw the cops and their decoy go together to the Capitol Beer Bar for a drink. Mujawar called a friend, Sanjay Gurav, and along with him went to Azad Maidan police station to lodge a complaint. After registering the complaint, Azad Maidan police disrupted the errant cops' beer party and they were handed over to the CST railway police, since the case was under their jurisdiction. Patil was also arrested by railway police on Wednesday night but was later released on bail. His mobile phone was confiscated by railway police because the constables were allegedly in touch with him over the phone, but his SIM card has gone missing, thereby wiping out evidence.

CST railway police senior inspector Bapu Thombre said an inquiry against the constables had begun and promised action against the guilty. "Two constables have been identified and if any others too are involved, we will take action against them," Thombre said.

Who is Mujawar?

Sameer Mujawar, 28, a Sewri resident who was the victim of a classic case of entrapment by the gay police on Tuesday

What did he do?

He busted a group of police constables that placed gay decoys inside the toilet at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and then accused visitors of indulging in homosexuality to extory money from them.

The entrapment

Mujawar was accosted by a gay, Sachin Patil, when he visited the toilet at CST at 11 pm Tuesday. Patil allegedly began indulging in indecent behaviour with Mujawar, and when Mujawar protested, Patil yelled loudly. Hearing the commotion, two constables from Azad Maidan police station, apparently ‘waiting’ for the signal from the gay, entered the toilet, accused both Mujawar and Patil of homosexuality and told them they’d have to be taken to the police station. When Mujawar told them he was a press reporter, the cops let him go.

How the racket was busted

Sensing something fishy, Mujawar waited on one of railway platforms and noticed that the constables along with the constables were similarly trapping many others and letting them go after extorting money from them.

After a while, he saw the cops and the gay go together to Capitol Beer Bar for a drink. He then went to Azad Maidan police station to lodge a complaint. The officers there sent a havaldar to summon the constables from the bar. The constables were then handed over to CST railway police, since the case was under their jurisdiction. Railway police have now instituted an inquiry.

Guys...trust me....we would be great politicians!!

amtrag:-Life's always seems greener on the other part...

After all its all bout attitude...U will never find an optimist person sitting over a pile of S****....he will always grow up...he will never b in S****..its all the mental approach that matters...education or anything has the least to do with it.......Consider Dhirubhai Ambani, Elvis Presley, Thomas Edison,Chester Carlson(Zerox), Beethoven (deaf!)...to name a few

Have tonnes of such experiences myself. But taking Rang De Basanti as an example, i'd say, its better to take life as you want to. There is no fixed or suggested way at things. There r times when u got to bribe n move. And then there r times when you need to fix them up properly. 1 thing i've realised, the cops do have bigger attitude than any of those customer care or HR ppl discussed elsewhere in the forums. They behave like Moral Police or the Gods of the City. It has come with the achievements they have got within this city. After the 93 riots, they've brought quite alot of peace in the city like Mumbai.

People are not allowed to stroll late nights, even if they r not doing anything wrong or drinking. These kind of activities have brought quite alot of things under control, but then there r traffic cops who r jus waiting at one corner, for someone to jump a signal, instead of being in the center of the road to make sure ppl dont jump signals.

So there r times u can fool them, there r times u may bribe them and then there r times you shud take their case royally! Kudos to that journalist who made some difference!

He might have complained about his missing bike to the control room at the first instance and that it self will have to be compulsarily be recorded for an FIR. Here in Vijayawada every call to control room (100 Service) is being monitored by the Higher officials (Commissioner and above)on daily basis, Quarterly, Fortnight & Montly basis which indirectly bound them to compulsarily act on behalf of complaintee. Refer http://www.article2.org/mainfile.php/0103/33/

Mohsin, jus to inform you >> FIR is a basic thing. In every Police Station, there are phone nos of Zonal Heads mentioned on a Board, where its clearly written, that if any cop does not register your FIR, you must immediately call the Zonal Head.

Another thing, for Insurance reasons, FIRs are absolutely important and hence you can clearly explain them and they'd do your work immediately. If nothing else, for such things, involve your Insurance Agent to settle claims n FIR stuff! You've paid him for such situations. Take his help.

I had some bad experiences with cops too.. One night I woke up at about 1AM when I realised the music stopped playing and then found out that I was locked in my room.. There were 3 of us and we passed out after drinking a lot.. And we managed to break the door n saw that my computer n DVD player worth 1.2 Lakhs was stolen... I went to the cops immediately n reported it.. I then remembered that we had 2 guys drinking with us who we met just 10 days ago through another friend and suspected him.. I managed to find his house n took the cops there.. n they seized the stuff.. I felt relieved that everything was okay now... I showed them my invoice of purchase n they compared the serial number n everything.. But they wouldn't give me my stuff just like that.. I now have to go claim it through court.. What a damn headache.. N 3 cops already took 5000 each from me and the lawyer took 7000.. only to find out that to be able to claim my items, I need to find someone as an "assurity" which means that he needs to have property or a governement job or something and just somebody working in the city will not do.. What nonsense is that, I don't understand?!?!?!?!?! I was from out of state and had no one to help me.. I ran around here n there for about a year and never got it n finally decided to let them shove it up their asses.. This was 3 years ago. But the guys who they busted paid money n were released. How convenient. So after all this ****, it was me who got screwed.

On most of the times the police is rude to the victim instead of being friendly..............

However, i have one nice experiance too........ Few years back (peack time of militancy) , we (8 families-34 persons) were travelling in bus and going to Vaishnodevi. We were detained near Jammu as our bus permit has few problems. It was midnight and there was a long queue. The cops were not allowing the bus to proceed further in to J&K. I approched the Police Inspector (a Sardarjee) and told him our plight that we are coming from far East. He not only allowed us to proceed ahead (with just an written undertaking from me) but also certified the defective travel permit to make sure that we are not detained anywhere else. He was extremely well behaved and a nice guy who even offered us tea.

I wish we had all cops like him. Whenever I think of cops, I always remember him.

Basant it happens once in a while.........

In UK if u come across to cops, They will communicate by calling u SIR..and that too respectfully...

Wereas in India.. .........here cops have feeling that the person who is not in uniform of policeman is a victim..

I dont know abt other parts of india.. but our Mumbai police does......

An incident took place in Pune - a young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain clothes officer; he asked her to come to the police station when she and her male friend didn't have a driver's license to show. He sent the boy off to get his license and asked the girl to accompany him to the police station. Took her instead to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed.

The law [which most are not aware of] clearly states that between 6 pm and 6 am, a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her. It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6 pm and 6 am, ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and tak en to an ALL WOMEN police station. And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest.

It is good for us to know our rights. To what extent it comes of use remains to be seen in any situation. But as they say, knowledge is power. I did not know this and am sure lot of us don't ?

Jeez! This is one more of the absurd laws we have in this funny country! What if the female is a terrorist/murderor/anti social of any other kind? Then the law has to while away its time till daybreak ...while maybe she makes a quick gateaway?! With the gender divide narrowing, women are nowhere less competent at commiting all sorts of crimes! Those who think otherwise can only be amazingly naive! Besides such laws are blatently discriminatory against men! If his law holds, we must have laws where a female officer cannot arrest a male ...and also a male can be taken to an ALL MALE police station, etc! :D

Ya, this incidence happened near Pune University. But it is a few years back. There was even a Marathi picture based on this named "Saat chya aat gharaat".
