Chirag 5 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Maharashtra is one of few states, where the RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT is very actively used by the citizens. I am sure most of you have been reading about this alot in newspapers etc. Most media houses are also using this ACT to get information about the corrupt practices followed in the Government Depts. Here's something that i recieved the other day via email. Do see the videos to know more abt this wonderful act which can really empower the citizens, if used! Dears all, Vishal Kudchadkar (LA, CA) has uploaded on google video a 45 minute documentary produced by Bharat Rawal, Pune, on the common man's use of RTI in Mahrashtra. It has narration and sub-titles in English. Vishal has uploaded it on a site called youtube it had to be uploaded in four parts: Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSoPY8pVKss Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfbH9sfTR6o Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqMbOOchQyk Part 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5wCZvB-j4A one can now watch it without too many pauses. in fact, now there are barely any pauses. He has also uploaded it on google video host site, which unfortunately cannot be accessed from india. but your friends abroad can have a better view of the documentary on http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3273483676514380008 This was a much-delayed self-funded exercise with major contribution coming from Vishal himself and then from Sanjay Dani (San Jose, CA), besides, Bharat spending from his pocket to complete it. Based mainly on the citizen-RTI user interface I had organised in Pune in December 2003 where RTI users from Pune and also some from Mumbai, Satara and Sangli were present. Shri Anna Hazare gave a talk (in addition to my own marathon review). Couldn't do much outdoors. Dare not call it a project. Yet, I assure you, the outcome is fairely decent. Shahid Burney and his friend Santosh Jagtap have taken upon themselves the task of taking out copies of the DVD and VCD, some of which I may be able to circulate within India among our friends. Pl circulate this message with links to others you think may be interested in having a look.
