jpatalia 1 Report post Posted April 22, 2006 hi i thing there is a major vacuum for the pda handsets to be launched by reliance i am sure reliance the company will find many takers if sensibily priced. there are so many options available for these handsets abroad, its a pity we have to cope with the phones of the jurassic age. the treo 700w seems to be a beauty and tempting , but alas it cannot be activated here. can we expect better handsets soon? pl update also can the 700w be activated here. KingofKalyan 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 As per my knowledge is concerened, I dont think CDMA phones from abroad will work on Reliance or TATA... RUIM OR NON RUIM..... unless and untill some R and D is done with SID, NAM settings etc etc.. Techie can guide us something for this.......

Techie can guide us something for this....... I DONT THINK SO, BECAUSE IN ANY RUIM BASED HANDSET THE SID, NAM DETAILS ARE STORED IN THE RUIM CARD IT SELF NOT IN THE HANDSET. SAY EXAMPLE OF ANY OF THE GSM SIM CARD. AS I SAID EARLIER IVE TRIED & CHECKED WITH RUIM BASED HANDSETS. ALSO I'M TRYING TO SOURCE DETAILS & AVALIABILITY FOR NOKIA 6265 FROM ONE OF MY FRIEND WHO STAY'S IN DUBAI & WILL BE COMING TO MUMBAI IN 2ND WEEK OF MAY. KingofKalyan 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2006 My point was that.. NAM and SID settings of Reliance and tata would be far diffrent by the international carriers.. Any way u can go ahead and try it out... please share ur experience with all of us...

saurabh_dua 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 Infact It's not easy to lug around a laptop , just to access internet, If we have a full featured internet phone ( not WAP , but real internet ), on reliance, that'll surely be a nice niche among the corporates. Puneet 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2006 @MobileFan: WCDMA is not CDMA "the standard" that Reliance uses. Instead it is the next step for GSM phones. Please search the forum for my other posts on the topic. Or you can search for WCDMA on wikipedia.
