How To Terminate Sierra Data Card Connection?

Recommended Posts

Guys, I have a serious concern with regards to my Reliance R-Connect Data Card account.

I spent about Rs 14,000 purchasing the Sierra data card from one of the Reliance Web World in Chennai. Used it succesfully for about 5 or 6 months, and then I got a chance to work in the USA for 2 years.

I contacted the Reliance Webworld for deactivating my account so that I can re-activate it when I come back to India after my assignment. To my surprise, they say that it cannot be done, and I will have to pay the line rental (of Rs 750) every month even though I am not using the card. Is it true that there is NO WAY of closing an account and reopening of it with Reliance? The Reliance executive tells me that if I close the account, then I CAN NEVER open it again, which affectively makes my Rs 14,000 data card useless when I come back to India. They say that the only way of opening another account when I come back to India is to purchase ANOTHER datacard for Rs 14,000. Obviously, no one would want to do this. I am already in the US, and have been paying the monthly line rental of Rs 750 every month, just in order for me to be able to use it when I come back to India, may be 1.5 years from now on. (Just imagine howmuch I would have paid as a line rental by multiplying Rs 750 with the number of months). I left India on 20th November, and since then I have been paying the line rental for nothing. I am sure there is a better way of handling this on Reliance part, or it may be that the customer care representative in Chennai who I dealt with, DO NOT have an idea about it.

Is there anyone out there like me????Having the same problem?
