Mahendra Singh Dhoni new brand ambassador for Reliance Communications

Mumbai, March 23, 2006

Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG) has signed up Indian cricket's whiz kid and heartthrob of millions Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the brand ambassador for Reliance Communications Ventures Ltd. As per the terms of the broad-ended contract, the ace cricketer will endorse the company's products and services through advertising campaigns and other such promotional programmes that may be evaluated for brand fitment during the term of the agreement. Dhoni's contract provides for his utilization for brand endorsements for Reliance Energy Ltd. also.

Said an elated Dhoni, "It's a great feeling to be associated with India's youngest yet one of top three business houses that has impressed us all with its dynamism, aggression and, meteoric growth. I see in the company/group a potential global winner and am really excited to be its partner in the grand journey."

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Behl, Head - Branding & Marketing, Reliance Communications, said, "Reliance Communications and Mr Dhoni have so much in common. Both are young, have bountiful energy and vigour, a go-getter attitude, and high degree of credibility and reliability. We want to be a globally competitive integrated communication solutions provider company servicing our customers across all facets of information, communication and entertainment spaces. We will use Dhoni's mass appeal to herald an enhanced customer experience across our existing products; and a new & exciting product range in future".

Coinciding with the event, "Dhoni Zone" and "Dhoni Magic" have been launched on Reliance World, the popular Reliance IndiaMobile portal. While Dhoni Magic will have downloadable wallpapers and a cricket-based game called "Dhoni game", Dhoni Zone will have the cricketer's profile, statistics, and clips of his best moments on the field.

Signing up Indian cricket's star is another solid evidence of RCVL's increased engagement with India's most popular sport. Reliance IndiaMobile is the presenting media sponsor for the ongoing India-England test match and limited over cricket series. Apart from the telecast rights on Sahara and Doordarshan, Reliance also has interactive property rights like SMS contest etc for the entire series.
