Eldergeek 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 (edited) ok cracker as u told me that to let the linux prob for my modem device.. ok i agree with u.. but the prob is that when i am pluggin my cable with the mobile with the laptop then the mobile gets hanged.. so once the mobile will be hanged up then what the benefit i will get !!! if the device will not be working then how it will detect the device... btw as u said to type the sudo wvdialconf in the console mode by pressing <ctrl+alt+f2>.. i did it but when i attached my usb with my lap and another connector in the cell then the cell got hanged but the console showed some error messages... this is the following error i got there .. kubuntu login : [4294786.808000] usb 2-1 : palm_os_4_probe -error -32 getting connection info [4294787.110000] usb 2-1 : palm_os_4_probe -error -110 getting connection info [4294787.501000] visor ttyUSB3: Device lied about number of ports, please use a lower one. [4294787.514000] visor ttyUSB0: Device lied about number of ports, please use a lower one. [4294787.524000] visor ttyUSB1: Device lied about number of ports, please use a lower one. and in the screen of my cell this was the error at that time usbdc.c 03530 and after that i think if i iwll type sudo wvdialconf then it will not be fruitful... so cracker what i have to do now??? but the hanging problem is not happenning in my win box... it running super cool without any prob... i can plug and unplug the usb at any time.. and the cell is working too without any prob... so why its happenning... its making me maddddddddddd.... i think i m not so lucky to use internet in kubuntu... czaveri 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 Ok, I did come across a few posts that describe how ZTE MC315 can be connected and used to access Internet. Any ideas, how I can use it to send SMS? I own an LG RD 3330 phone and a ZTE MC315 Card. I am able to send emails using my phone. However, I would also like to be notified by SMS everytime I receive email. The service from Reliance (R World) is a bit slow and charges Rs. 3 per session. In addition, it gives me an email address of the kind MYPHONENUMBER@reliancemail.com I would like to use myexistingemail@mytld.com This is what I am planning to do: Use fetchmail to periodically check for messages on the server. Retrieve message Parse retrieved message and recreate a smaller version enough to fit in 1 SMS. SMS the message to me using ZTE Card (My computer is on almost 24 hours so this is not a problem) Can someone advise how I can establish this? That is, how I can use the ZTE Card from Linux to send SMS?

Prabhat_Ranjan 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2006 Could you establish connection through ZTE MC315 in Linux? If yes, can you post any details since no other post i have come across has mentioned success with this. Thanks I am trying to dig deeper in this problem and see if we can find a solution. I have two leads right now: 1. A report (unconfirmed) that it works on Novell Suse distribution. Trying to get more specific details. 2. This card uses Oxford Semiconductor OXCF950 UART with interface to PCMCIA or CF. As per the manufacturer's claim this is supposed to be compatible to 16C550 UART but I have found problems being faced by various products based on this in Linux support. SOme relevant links for the product details are as follows: http://www.ecplaza.net/tradeleads/seller/3...315_series.html 3. The part of the Kernel that handles this is Linux-2.6.17/drivers/serial/serial_cs.c This has patches related to Oxford Semiconductor device. As and when i make any progress, I would inform the Forum. saurabhperiwal 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2007 Hi, Please please help me on this ... I have Nokia 2112 handset with USB datacable and Im trying to connect Rconnect from Fedora Core 3. Please give me Step By Step procedure of doing this. May be how to configure USB datacable. How to select correct device in //dev How to install 2112 modem How to create dial up connection.. etc.etc. what ever required Thanks in advance, waiting for reply. Regards Saurah hi everyonei registered to this site a few days ago and find that many people are having problems running internet from their NOKIA handsets on linux. I have a NOKIA 3125 and this is how I did it. I made two configuration files. The first is the file that gives pppd its options and the second is the file that tells pppd the username and password to use in order to log into the ISP. File: /etc/ppp/options Perms: 640 (-rw-r-----) Owner: root.root This is the pppd options file. It looks like the following (without the dashes): --------------------------- updetach modem lock crtscts defaultroute asyncmap 0 --------------------------- File: /etc/ppp/pap-secrets Perms: 640 (-rw-r-----) Owner: root.root This is the file that contains the username and password for the ISP. The password must be in clear text. It should look like the following (without dashes): --------------------------- username * password --------------------------- I also made three script files These are the files that actually connect you to the ISP. There are a total of three scripts that connect and disconnect you from the Internet. File: /etc/ppp/ppp-on perms: 750 Owner root.root This is the actual connect script. You will need to edit the script with your username and telephone number to dial in the correct locations, after which, run it and you should connect. --------------------------- #!/bin/sh USERNAME= # Your username goes here TELEPHONE=#777 # The telephone number you dial to connect LOCAL_IP=0.0.0.0 # Local IP address if known. Dynamic = 0.0.0.0 REMOTE_IP=0.0.0.0 # Remote IP address if desired. Normally 0.0.0.0 export TELEPHONE ACCOUNT PASSWORD DIALER_SCRIPT=/etc/ppp/ppp-on-dialer exec /usr/sbin/pppd debug /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 name $USERNAME \ $LOCAL_IP:$REMOTE_IP \ connect $DIALER_SCRIPT # use /dev/USB* or /dev/ACM* as per your requirement cat /etc/resolve.conf >> /etc/resolv.conf ---------------------------- File: /etc/ppp-on-dialer Perms: 750 Owner: root.root This script actually performs the dialing function. It receives the telephone number from ppp-on. If you wish, you may add a modem initialization string where indicated. If you do not wish for a initialization string then remove the line completely. ---------------------------- #!/bin/sh exec /usr/sbin/chat -v \ TIMEOUT 3 \ ABORT '\nBUSY\r' \ ABORT '\nNO ANSWER\r' \ ABORT '\nRINGING\r\n\r\nRINGING\r' \ '' \rAT \ 'OK-+++\c-OK' ATH0 \ OK 'AT+CRM=1;+CSO=33' \ TIMEOUT 30 \ OK ATDT$TELEPHONE \ CONNECT '' \ ---------------------------- File: /etc/ppp/ppp-off Perms: 750 Owner: root.root This is the script that will disconnect you from the Internet. No modifications are necessary. ---------------------------- #!/bin/sh if [ "$1" = "" ]; then DEVICE=ppp0 else DEVICE=$1 fi if [ -r /var/run/$DEVICE.pid ]; then kill -INT `cat /var/run/$DEVICE.pid` if [ ! "$?" = "0" ]; then rm -f /var/run/$DEVICE.pid echo "ERROR: Removed stale pid file" exit 1 fi echo "PPP link to $DEVICE terminated." exit 0 fi echo "ERROR: PPP link is not active on $DEVICE" exit 1 ---------------------------- also create /etc/resolve.conf as follows nameserver 202.138.103.100 nameserver 202.138.97.193 nameserver 127.0.0.1 now to run the script cd /etc/ppp sh ppp-on and ENJOY!!!!! sometome ppp-off does not disconnect then killall pppd and then sh ppp-on again data call definitely end now I FEEL this WILL WORK ON ANY NOKIA PHONE. IN CASE IT DOESNT PLEASE POST YOUR PROBLEM IF IT DOES THEN TOO PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE
